Really?
If you have enough SP/MP replenishing items and some good moves/magic you'll be fine.

That is what I did and hit them with everything I had. I have great magic and special moves. Double hit me to kill everyone.

Re: Together Retro: Grandia
Well everyone I just now beat the game. I have to say that it was a really great game and I loved the ending post credits. I like how they show you how much has changed and at the very end you get a good sense of closer to the whole story. I finished the game in about 46 hours give or take. Justin was at lvl 37, Feena, 34, Rapp 34 and Liete 36 and I had no issues with the final bosses at all. I did have lots of Blue, Gold, SP and other items to help me so that made a big difference. I horde a lot of those items and used very little of them till the final parts.
This game has be come one of the great's but not the best PS1 Rpg's I have played. I love the story, art, graphics, battle system and a lot of the music "some of it was kinda bad". The one thing I have said before is that I wish the voice acting was not their at all because its just not very good. It kinda diminished the ending scenes for me cause it was just bad.
But, other than that it was fantastic and I am glad that I participated in this month's together retro. I hope everyone who finished or is still playing it enjoyed it as much as I did. I will have to say that Grandia 2 is still a better game than this one, but I like seeing the ground work laid out and the refinements that Grandia 2 brought after this one. It makes me appreciate Grandia 2 that much more.

PS1 arrived and I got stuck in again.
I just did the section on the enemies flying battleship. I think I'm on the home stretch. Maybe It'll be done tomorrow, maybe not.

I was estimating another 5 hours or so, but I guess that was a bit too hopeful XDBogusMeatFactory wrote:I thought so too...and then 4 hours went by...and I thought I was done.....and more hours went by.alienjesus wrote:PS1 arrived and I got stuck in again.

That sounds about right if you don't spend an eternity going through the mazes meticulously. Good luck!alienjesus wrote:I was estimating another 5 hours or so, but I guess that was a bit too hopeful XDBogusMeatFactory wrote:I thought so too...and then 4 hours went by...and I thought I was done.....and more hours went by.alienjesus wrote:PS1 arrived and I got stuck in again.

Re: Together Retro: Grandia
So I just beat the game. I don't know what happened the last time I tried to fight the final boss as this time, I beat him without taking a single blow and did zero backtracking to grind, so I guess I was just unlucky.
I thoroughly enjoyed the game. Sure the plot devolved into some really abstract convoluted plot that was very serendipitous, but the characters themselves were very interesting, engaging and a lot of fun to learn about. I can understand why this is a highly lauded game, as not only was the combat a lot of fun, the skill system and world created was very colorful and a pleasure to take part in.
I think we made the right choice to start the year off with this title in particular and am VERY happy that I was able to complete it within the deadline...even if I did cheat a bit by starting in the middle of December!
