Any word on Region-Modded New 3DS?

I really prefer the style of the Japanese New 3DS. I was wondering if there is anything floating around about region modding?

Last I heard, Region-free 3DS is now officially a thing, but the exploit/hack/whatever didn't work with New 3DS.

OOoooh really? Got any details on that? I can think of a few 3DS games we got f'd out of that went as far as going into english but over in europe where we got nothing or a crap digital only release yet still for full price.

Yeah that would matter a lot to me 6 months ago, but the Euro just crushed into almost parity with the Dollar so :/.

Any news on wether Nintendo can patch this exploit out?

I saw the post on neo-geo.com and can't access it from work, so I can't give you any more info, but I imagine with some google-fu you can scrounge it up.
