Descendents rule forever, though, and will always be one of my favorite bands that i'll probably never see. i've done like 3 different descendents cover bands in my life. try learning the basslines to "Coolidge" and "Talking" for a real challenge next!

Gah! Of course it was. I tell ya why I have a bit of a mental block on that one. Clear back in the day, the first Descendents album I ever bought was Liveage!. It was actually a bit of a milestone as I recall, being that it was one of the first albums I ever purchased with my own hard earned money. IMO it's one of the best live albums of all time (along with Hallraker), and even after all these years I still listen to it front to back at least once a month. Any hoo, Liveage! features both Karl Alvarez on bass and the song Myage, so I think I'll forever associate that song (as well as most of the other songs on that album) with him.

I'd love to learn Coolidge as it's an absolute classic Descendents track, but Talking (like a lot of the tracks off of Cool To Be You) is sort of hit or miss for me. That's badass that you've been in some Descendents cover bands, I bet it was a hoot!

Is it weird I get dressed up for phone interviews?

Also my car is broken yet again, but mostly drivable. If I get this job I'm going to find something more reliable to drive day to day right away.

Smile - My desk at work has two white boards, one as a sales tracker and one for general use. Since we are early in our sales month (before you notice, no it does not sync with the calender month) I was using the sales one to plot my garden during training phonecalls. My boss walked by, stared at it, and asked which customer's circuit I was designing and why was the handoff so dirty. Apparently I am an engineer at heart...

Ticked - Current garden plan works as the garden stands, but I might have to move the temporary fence to add two more beds since my wife wants to buy a tub of seeds to take the shotgun approach to the garden. I wrote off things like Brussels Sprouts since I will not eat them. But she wants to give them a go...

Nope. Sounds silly, but also smile and stand up during phone interviews. Both help with the inflection of your voice.

Knew about the standing thing. I tend to pace while talking on the phone too which helps with rhythm and emphasis on words.

Sure, whatever works for you.

Of course you don't want to come off as a doofus, but smiling while talking over the phone changes your tone a bit and makes you seem more likeable. If you even google "smile while" it suggests "smile while talking on phone".

Stay professional, but enthusiasm and even a giggle show confidence and that you'd be fun to work with.

Somewhat related, when I call a major company for a generous donation I've found that being a bit goofy with a dash of laughter eliminates the thought of me being glib.

Confidence is a general attitude you project on the surface rather than a feeling I think. In that sense at least, I have all the confidence in the world.

When I was phone screening I split the difference; I was naked and pacing while I talked and I pet my cats whenever I got a cliché interview question.
