What was the last movie you've seen?

Everyone who hasn't been to Texas seems to think its Mad Max mixed with Friday Night Lights and Chuck Norris movies.

Her
It was an interesting movie, with interesting ideas, but it didn't particularly click with me. For one, his wife being the only who thinks his love for an OS is weird struck me. She's the only one? And the OS's being able to do all the things they do just scares the crap out of me honestly. The love story and trials of said love really are interesting, and heartfelt, but it just didn't work for me in the given scenario. It leaves to many questions and opinions that I can't really wrap my head around completely.

I always thought Texas was the kind of place where if you sang out on the street "The stars at night are big and bright" everyone will stop what they're doing to go <clap clap clap clap> "Deep in the heart of Texas!"

Second time I saw it.

You know what? Other than this silly obsession to have Wolverine star in every X-Men film (my favorite one still is the one without him, first class) it was a really good super hero film. James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence once again hit it out of the park, and the 70s era atmosphere is really well done (but once again, the 60s of the previous film were just more "fun").

I really don't understand the fan's obsession for the rights to return to Marvel. I found all the phase one films except Ironman, just passable, and even the avengers didn't ammount to anything great except the entire "they are all together" thing. I will say though, all the phase 2 films have been good so looking forward to Avengers 2.

Personally I think X-Men should stay its own thing separate from the main MCU. I feel like it's hard to sell the various racial themes that are explored through mutants when you have all the other super heroes running around and everyone loving them. So the MCU can stick with the "people with crazy powers are awesome" style and X-Men can stick with the "we are scared of people who are different" angle.

Now Spider-Man and Fantastic Four, they'd be good to roll into the main MCU.

Anytime I've seen a band from out of the country play here, they've played Deep in the Heart of Texas. Its both awesome, and a bit sad that is the song everybody thinks of.

Yes, the only marvel comics I read were some Ultimate X-Men comics (yeah no comment),and I agree with everything you said.

I also always found the mytholodgy of the X-Men world more interesting and that it worked better when it was separated from the rest of the marvel universe (see the 90s cartoon).

I haven't read any Fantastic Four or Spiderman comics (though again I've watched the 90s cartoon) but I don't know....I'm not a huge fan of team ups. I mean, was locky really that big of a threat that you needed all the avengers? And especially spiderman feels like a character that works best when alone.

buuuuuuut.....I do like justice league stories....at least the cartoons (justice league and young justice)....I don't know, maybe DC does team ups better?

I don't think there has been an even "okay" X-Men movie since X2. They're watchable, but extremely forgettable (and usually cheap looking).

FINDING NEMO.

So cute, so fun. Beautifully directed, drawn, and the cast mailed each and every character.

The Fountain

The Fountain was... interesting. I typically like Darren Aronofsky's work. I found this one to be confusing and with a romantic relationship that was hard to invest in because the audience doesn't see anything of how it develops, they only see Hugh Jackman's character working hard in a science lab to try to save his wife who is dying of cancer in a hospital. Nevertheless, there is some stunning visual imagery as seen in the picture above, though it sometimes crosses the line into excess with large swaths of blinding light and somersaulting camera shots that draw too much attention to themselves.

The movie ostensibly spans 1000 years with three storylines, there is a story about the Mayans and the Spanish Conquistadors, there is the modern day story about the scientist and his wife with cancer, and there is a story of an enlightened space being traveling through the cosmos to reach the Xibalba star in the Great Orion Nebula. The main characters in the three stories are played by the same actors. What the astute viewer will realize is that all of the events of the movie are happening on the present day timeline. The story about the Mayans is actually the book that the wife has written, and the story about the future is the final chapter that the husband promised to write for her on her death bed. The story is ultimately about coming to terms with death, and that process is explicated in those two fictions. Though trust, it wasn't easy to figure out that this was what was happening and you could debate me about whether I am right or not.
