Thanks to Netflix and my nephews, I'm acquainted with the show. Seemed very decent from the few episodes I've watched - nice to see Batman with a lighter tone and sense of humor for a change, and to have lesser known characters get a chance on center stage. Probably worth a look for people who grew up reading comics or have kids interested in Batman - just set your expectations appropriately going in regarding tone.Exhuminator wrote:...

Oh, yeah, it's definitely based on a show. It's pretty good, too! I like the humorous Batman. You should look up the episode where he goes up against Music Meister (voiced by Neil Patrick Harris). It's completely ridiculous.
The game itself was pretty fun. I'd give it a 7 or 8, and the humor is spot-on. And look up that clock tower music! Jake Kaufman decided to go all Castlevania there.
EDIT: Can't find the tune by itself, but here's the stage.

I am glad to see other people enjoying Batman: The Brave & The Bold. I agree that it is a solid 7/10 game that is elevated slightly by the excellent animation and voice acting. It was also nice to see a Batman game that isn't so self-serious and recognizes the inate ridiculousness of its source material.
Also, it is worth noting that the Nintendo DS version of Batman: The Brave & The Bold is a completely different game. Since it plays like an updated version of The Adventures of Batman & Robin (SNES), I actually enjoyed the gameplay in the Nintendo DS version more than the gameply in the Wii version. (Moreover, WayForward's excellent sprite work in the Nintendo DS version is first-class.) Sadly, the game is too easy, and it is entirely too short. Accordingly, I do not recommend spending more than a few dollars on it. (It is a great game for children, however, and completing it would probably help them prepare for more difficult action games.)

To be clear, the last thing I asked about Muramasa was whether or not the Vita port looked good on the Vita TV and.... I don't remember getting a responsedsheinem wrote:you're killin' meMuremasa - enough folks said they would still pick the Wii console option over the Vita on TV option, so again, just going with majority.![]()
For Muramasa: irixith, foxhound, mjmjr25, Bone,
Against Muramasa: dsheinem, jmbarnes101, Exhuminator, alinejesus
Unsure or Indifferent: CFFJR, Blu, prfsnl_gmr, Michi, ejamer
most of the "indifferent" folks basically said "yes, unless it gets an HD port" or "yes, unless it gets a better port that can be played on a big TV"....
So, to sum up my thoughts, since I wasn't clear: If the only difference between the two is a minor re-translation and some crisper visuals, I'd still go with the Wii version.

The Vita version also offers a lot of additional content via DLC. From Wikipedia:Michi wrote:If the only difference between the two is a minor re-translation and some crisper visuals, I'd still go with the Wii version.
Four new playable characters are introduced in the Vita version of the game, along with their own story and boss characters. Unlike the other protagonists, they do not use swords and each use different playstyle.[14][15][16] As of present, the first three DLC packages have been released in Japan and North America.
The Wii version does not offer this expansion.
And one last time I'm not saying the Wii version sucks, I'm just saying the Vita version is the superior of the two.

So with two young kids in the house (still too young for the game, but probably not that far off) would $10 be more than you would pay?prfsnl_gmr wrote:...

Grabbed a cheap copy of the Wii game recently and noticed the DS version was also available. Pricing was just a bit higher than I'd pay without more information though. Did check a quick YouTube video and was impressed with the sprites... no surprise there though, as WayForward usually does excellent work in that department.

Somewhere along the line we all forgot about Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. There were a couple of votes for it early on.
This game is certainly superior to the PS2/PSP ports and implements the wii-mote ever so elegantly. I think this one will stand the test of time.

If you are buying it for yourself $10 is a bit steep. That is how much I paid for my copy, and while I enjoyed the game quite a bit, I was disappointed with the lack of content. (It has about as much content as a standard 16-bit action platformer. It is far easier than games of that generation, however.) If you think that your children will enjoy it (or, as in my case, enjoy watching you play it), I would advise you to go for it.ejamer wrote:So with two young kids in the house (still too young for the game, but probably not that far off) would $10 be more than you would pay?prfsnl_gmr wrote:...

Finally got around to poking at the games I currently have. A couple to maybe consider...
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands: "Wait!", you say. That game is also on the 360 and PS3, and surely those are better versions than the Wii port. But it's not a port! It's actually it's own game, and in a lot of ways, I liked it better than its big brothers. It makes excellent use of the Wii remote, and the Wii is the only place to play it.
Arc Rise Fantasia: I admittedly haven't finished this one, but it's not a bad traditional RPG, and at least worth discussing to some degree.
