I was surprised by this one.

PS1 had a Japan only game called Las Vegas Dream 2, linking it to what we know as Vegas Stakes (which itself was loosely connected to the game called Vegas Dream in the US).
Lum fan.

this was because of some kind of agreement between capcom and sony that the "main series" be a playstation exclusive. nemesis was supposed to be the spin-off and Code: Veronica was supposed to be RE3, i believe.

Yup, i heard about that too but i can't find any quote from any thrust worthy source yet. Each time i hear that is from DYK gaming. Hold on maybe this one is http://www.projectumbrella.net/articles ... t-Umbrella

Also not sure if someone mentioned kingdom hearts but that series is a mess if you don't read a wiki. I mean yeah you got KH 1 and KH 2 and the upcoming KH 3 BUT you MUST play the two games that sounds like spin offs in order to understand what the hell is going on, those are Chains of memories and the more recent Dream Drop Distance.

I played them all and still won't make any sense

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but i love the way Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, and Timesplitters are all related. they are all excellently made FPS's. :D
This user really likes SEGA Saturn. Avoid at all costs.

Very believable.

I like RE3... but haven't replayed the main ones last year, it was a bit of a burn and felt pretty empty compared to the others. CV isn't my favorite, but yeah there is no doubt it ties more into the main stuff than RE3 does.

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain

Soul Reaver 2
Blood Omen 2
Legacy of Kain: Defiance

In light of GOGs most recent LucasArts releases I was reminded of the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series which also suffers a bit with the same dilemma (although certainly not as egregiously). The Jedi Knights series is of course also noteworthy for being a direct spin-off from the Dark Forces games.

Dark Forces
Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II
Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith
Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
