I am really enjoying Doom II

I know you couldn't use it much and it was just a let down because they played it up as this great thing and it was a buggy nightmare. I got through most of the game but hit a wall of bugs I just stopped on with multiple sword fights before a save point and it just kept fouling up.

Yes, Red Steel 2 is awesome. Loved being able to slash enemies into the air and blast 'em with a shotgun.

Well try and find Final Doom I guess, or Ultimate Doom which is the original with a 4th campaign on it. Doom 3 sucks and plays nothing like the old games, it's more of a cheap pop scare a moment every 30 seconds.

If you want something around that period, try Rise of the Triad or from Apogee the Blake Stone games.
