Re: PC build thread
yeah the hourly annoyance is what I'm trying to avoid here. I suppose even if someone had an XP key that would suffice for now... anyone? 7? XP?isiolia wrote:It also bugs you hourly, and doesn't do system updates.wclem wrote: You do know if you do not activate it all you lose is the desktop background?

Haha all set, got her Win7 as planned. Used things I had laying around and bought her an entry level Nvidia card. She is just getting her feet wet
She legit wanted me to build her a PC to play Ethan Carter.

Re: PC build thread
so I've had an interesting/annoying thing going on since I upgraded my mobo... about half the time I cold boot, I get an error telling me to insert an OS disc. I hit reset and then it boots fine. After updating every driver I could think of and googling a lot, it turns out that what's going on is newer z87 and 97 boards have issues w/ the "Sandforce" breed of SSD's. I have an OCZ Vertex 2, 120GB. (TBH, I didn't even realize SSD's had different chip sets... learn something new every day!) So I guess what happens is sometimes at boot the SSD isn't' recognized and sometimes it is. Now ultimately this isn't a big deal, as when it happens I just hit reset and then it boots superfast into Windows like it should. But it is annoying when it happens.
So,
Smile: I guess I have an excuse to start shopping for a new SSD.
Frown: I really can't afford to start shopping for a new SSD right now.

Man, internal SSDs are now 300-400 for 1 TB. I just need the storage capacity to double and I can finally replace my system drive with an SSD.

Why do you need that much space on a SSD?
