Well for starters they did not use the move and nearly a month of no first run programming to rebrand as simply "Impact Wrestling" and finally drop the horrible albatross of "TNA". Seriously, from day fucking one I thought it was a terrible name, who wants to tell friends and family what they are watching is called TNA?

Other than that rant the show seemed to pick up where they left off storyline wise, and while a hard reset would have been interesting, the last few months of Impact ranged from watchable to pretty good, so can't say continuing is a bad thing.

The production values were noticeably lowered, someone on Twitter joked that they should thank Ring of Honor for lending them their lighting rig on such short notice. But the 'rasslin was good and the storylines moved along without feeling rushed. Other than a vintage TNA clusterfuck of interference in the main event title match it was as good a show they have produced in the weeks before their hiatus.

It will be interesting to see how the ratings hold up though, as Destination America is available in under half the homes Spike TV is. I do like the replay at 11 right after the first airing, that should help whatever numbers they draw.

Appears TNA has a new show on Saturdays now. I'm hoping lead ins to Wednesday night can be reairings of older PPV and weekly shows. Not that it'll happen but I would watch that every week.

The TNA replay (they also showed it against at 3am) drew another 108,000 - I think they were around 450,000 overall but Destination America is supposed to announce numbers tomorrow.

The nice thing about DA is that they DO push their programs. They've ran two Impact Wrestling marathons so far. They'll have the Saturday morning show too.

The lighting was dim because ticket sales were really poor. You can tell in the beginning when the lights were up for the opening roster brawl through the crowd.

Are they still filming in Disney's studios or did they move? Not sure if Disney, I remember it was in Florida I think.

These have been at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. They moved out of the Impact Zone a while back.

Here's one of many reasons why Lucha Underground is the best wrestling show on American TV right now:

And that was Danny...fucking...Trejo in the front row by the way, which is why that was awesome 8)

Fuck WWE. Fuck TNA. This is where it's at. And hell, we can throw in what they're doing with New Japan on AXS TV right now too while we're talking about awesome wrestling on American TV.

EDIT: Lucha Underground is doing some stuff I've never seen on a wrestling show, and I'm not just talking about what they do inside the ring. It's pretty cutting edge, but they've also got a really good grasp on the fundamental things that make wrestling work. And they may also be the only wrestling show on TV that genuinely gives a damn about their storytelling.

EDIT2: Also awesome:

Oh, and from what I've seen of Lucha Underground, there's no women's division.

Why?

Why have women wrestle other women when they can get in the ring with men

Equal opportunity. Lucha may be the most progressive wrestling show on TV.

Awesome, hour long, PPV caliber match from Lucha Underground. Kind of their take on the Royal Rumble

Royal Rumble - while I would have liked to see the Triple Threat match and Bray's early match domination I'm very happy I didn't spend the $9.99 to see the rest of this. From following it the rest of the matches were uneventful and the Royal Rumble match itself sounds like a total disaster. I didn't like Reigns before and I like him even less now that he's being pushed down our throats. Short of a couple jobbers I would have been ok with almost anyone else winning it. It just confirms what I've felt for a long time that creatively they've lost it.

I'm very happy that I can watch TNA and ROH every week because they are at least entertaining. ROH gave us a fun Daniels vs El Patron match. That was free and worth watching with the Lethal storyline. I wish Lucha Underground was on Charter. It sounds like something I'd enjoy.
