I'm reasonably certain it does not, no. UniBIOS is different from MVS converters. It's really useful, either on the MVS or the AES. Change the region, change what your system identifies as, etc... takes care of blood censoring in US version, allows for unlimited continues via "quarter-feeding" by setting to MVS mode... also has cheat functionality and jukebox functionality, and one or two other things that are not as useful in my eyes.

It's soldered in, but I for one will speak highly of JNX's services in doing it. I had him install one for me and mod mine for YPbPr/S-Video/Composite and... wow. Shipping to Hawaii is never fun, but hey.

Edit: I say "reasonably certain" because I think I remember hearing that one of the converters had... some sort of bios replacement. But I don't think it was nearly as full-featured as the UniBIOS.

My converter does let me choose between America, Japanese, and European.

Here's what my question ultimately is: is the converter simply allowing me to play MVS games or is it "converting" them into the "AES versions" when I turn it on?

The latter would make little sense to me, but when I start a game I have 4 continues - like an AES game - and can't figure out how to pump in "quarters." I'll keep playing with it.

Oh, and I now have a whopping three MVS games: The King of Fighters '99, Magical Drop 2, and Puzzle De Pon. Only one more and my MVS and AES "collections" will be tied.

It's "Converting" them to the AES version. Every MVS and AES game has both versions on the rom chips inside. There's even the home version of the game in MVS carts that never got an official home release.

Does anyone know an approximate price guide for the PAL B&W Neo Geo Pocket (not color) games if they are boxed and complete?

I've seen some of the sports games for hundreds on Ebay.

I ask because today I bought a boxed complete PAL copy of Baseball Stars for £20.

This seemed like a good price regardless to bolster my boxed collection. I know that the color version of this game is fairly common but I was wondering if the B&W one is rare?

Whoa. That's fascinating. Thanks for the info.

Looks like holding the button on the converter boots it in MVS mode. Good stuff.

Well, you've got 2 great puzzle games and KoF is always nice to have in the collection. It's a solid start :)

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.

Local auction of cabinets next week near me, including a 4slot big red (conversion? I can't tell from the pics, sadly) and a 2slot big red (definitely original). I can't go due to a 16 hour shift that day, but my brother said assuming his wife didn't have plans for them that morning he'd be willing to go and bid in my stead.

Finger crossed.... I'd honestly be happy with either.

Excellent price on a not so common neo fighter:
