Too early to start talking about rare/valuable Wii games?

I think at first a lot of gamers that aren't intimately familiar with the Wii library think the Wii library is sub-par and only consists of shovel ware, poor ports that forced "waggle", etc... Once you really take a look you find that there are really a ton of unique experiences hidden throughout the library and that the library is much more robust than one would think initially.

Yea, I'm glad I found this site. I'm a member of a few forums, but it's nice that there is an active community here that are collecting and discussing the Wii already. Hopefully as more collectors dig into the library they will realize there is so much more to it than they originally thought.

Is this really a surprise to anyone other than casual gamers? Nintendo consoles have always been like this. The Wii U is the exact same, for the people who aren't idiots going "HURR DURR Wii U, moar liek Wii Poo AMIRITE? LOLOLOL It has at least half as many hardcorez as PS4. It is leik babby console for babys" it's easily the best console of the current generation. So much good gaming to be had compared to the handful of titles across both the PS4 and Xbone, there's maybe 5 unique games to play, most of which are on xbone? The rest can be played on PC.

There are many articulate and intelligent people on this forum, but in my experience, the average video game enthusiast speaks, thinks, and writes at this level.

On multiple occasions, I have, when purchasing Wii games been asked:

"So...uh...Getting something for your kids?"

"Uh...well...I am holding a copy of Manhunt 2...youi know, the one where you move the Wii remote to slit people's throats...so...no."

or

"Wow! This must be, like, the only M-rated game on the Wii."

"Uh...I guess so...unless you count House of the Dead, Madworld, Manhunt, No More Heroes, and all of the Resident Evil games..."

I would have to say that the Wii has some of the most violent games ever. I never liked the Manhunt series, because of its strange fixation on the violent act itself. Other games like Madworld, No More Heroes and House of the Dead: Overkill create an environment of exaggerated, over-the-top violence to a millionth degree. Sure, the wii may not have the most M rated games, but the ones they have definitely top the list on some of the most violent games.

I've never understood the obsession people have over ESRB ratings anyway.

Does playing Manhunt 2 make you cooler than playing Okami or Trauma Team or Metroid Prime? Who looks at a T-rated game, then walks away thinking "that obviously isn't mature enough for me if there isn't enough violence/swearing/sex to get a higher rating"? Frankly, if such people exist then I'm not keen on gaming with them because we obviously have different opinions about where fun comes from.

Less than 10% percent of the games in my collection are rated M... but lots are rated T and all are (IMO) worth playing. That's good enough for me.

Yea, another point is hardcore games can be rated E, but people act like hardcore equals mature and I don't agree.

BTW, if anyone is interested Wal Mart has some games on sale including some for Wii. Not going to list them but may be worth a look.

Agreed, ESRB ratings hardly reflect a game's quality.

got a lot of 1st party stuff, then things that are mainly only released for wii u

i'll have to upload pics. I think if I got all the wii games I want then I'd be up to 300 or so.

Yea, I need to take some new pics. I have a few more on the way but honestly it always seems like I do

Not sure if I posted numbers but for Wii U I'm up to 85+ I believe. Since it should have a fairly low number of games I made the decision to go for a full set. I'm pretty patient so realize it will take some time.

I've seen myself shift away from the more mature-rated titles in the past few years. I'm tired and burnt out from seeing it lambasted in virtually every other form of media I consume. The news, television, daily life, work, etc.

Call me evasive or in denial, some times I just want a break from all the debauchery!
