What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I love these reviews. You are basically going back and watching all of the movies that 10-year-old prfsnl_gmr would have thought were awesome but that 34-year-old prfsnl_gmr would not watch.
I admit, I find them interesting, entertaining in their poor quality, and a bit inspiring. After all, how bad could my writing be when compared to stuff like this?

I plan to keep watching this kind of junk for a while.

So Star Crash and some primordial Hoff in the future? What about Space Hunter Adventures in the Forbidden Zone for some primordial Molly Ringwald?

Not gonna lie, I've been meaning to watch Star Crash for years. I want to see how it compares to the likes of Disney's The Black Hole or maybe Battle Beyond the Stars.

Heh, as I sneak in an edit. I haven't seen SC or SH in years.

Trailer:

I watched this on Martin Luther King Day, and it turned out to be a movie fitting of the holiday, though I hadn't picked it for that reason. It even had quotes from Dr. King. I came to this movie for the clowning and the krumping, but it turned out to be a shining example of documentary film making and a piece that was more about culture than it was dance. This was a film about living in the ghetto and just finding something, anything to cling to to get by. The dancing really comes alive in this context and makes you see how this hip hop thing is a culture, not just a genre.

IMDB does not allow hotlinking. Everyone that uses IMDB image links is seeing them because you're getting the cached image you just looked at on the IMDB site, we're seeing nothing. When in doubt, hold SHIFT and reload the page after posting to check. But IMDB is asite that you can't use their images.

Indeed.

For those not in the know, "Salacious" translates to the enjoyment of sexual perversion. So you've got this puppet who is the embodiment of this word, constantly laughing at others despair. And his laugh is spot on.

A*P*E, aka The Great Counterattack of King-Kong, aka Hideous Mutant, aka Attack of the Giant Horny Gorilla

Everything you need to know about this movie can be summed up in the following picture:
Image
A*P*E is a King Kong mockbuster that came out of South Korea around the same time as the Dino De Laurentiis Kong remake from the 1970s. In fact, the film takes a couple of knocks at the remake(such as a director in the movie named Dino) along with other popular 1970s films(in the opening scene, the giant ape fights a great white shark. Thanks, Jaws, I will never get that pathetic image out of my head). Everything about this film is amateurish: the awful acting, the awful soundtrack, the awful editing, the awful shot framing, everything! Half the time the extras are grinning as they run in "fear." You can see the camera in the background, or see the openings in the ape suit, or even thrill at the sight of a "giant" gorilla stepping carefully over a plastic cow toy to convey size.

Things I learned from this film:

Korean buildings are made of cardboard and sound like paper crinkling when you smash them.
Koreans cannot see a 36-foot gorilla in an open field.
I hate 3D.
Korean actors know exactly how to fight a 36-foot gorilla.
Bolt-action rifles fire several times without rechambering.
I hate 3D.
Long Life is a great brand of Chinese cigarette.
Gorillas disco dance when being shot.
Korean screaming sounds like three people screaming playing over and over again in a loop...but most Koreans do not scream ever.
I hate 3D.
Disneyland will kill us all.
Puppets are creepy.
South Korea is rife with abandoned themeparks used as playgrounds for schoolchildren.
And I really hate 3D.

I also really hate this movie...but would happily watch it again while drunk with friends. Now to track down The Mighty Peking Man and see how it compares.
