Good 2 Player Shmup for GC, N64, DC, Genesis, or NES?

Are there any good 2 player simultaneous co-op shmups for the Gamecube, N64, Dreamcast, Genesis, or NES?

For the Gamecube you've only got 2 choices for Shmups (unless you import), Chaos Field and Ikaruga. Definately get Ikaruga. Chaos Field is fun too but its not 2 player so its out.

My favorite 2 player NES Shmup is Legendary Wings. Id suggest checking that one out.

Ill let someone else cover the other 3 systems you asked about though.

Bio Hazard Battle for the Genesis. I've heard this is suppose to be good for two players. I have the game, but I've never played it for either one or two players. Maybe someone can follow up with more info.

Battletoads is pretty clearly not a shmup.

However, I believe that run 'n gun games like Contra are generally classified as a sub-genre of the shoot 'em up.

If we are including run 'n gun games, I'd like to mention the NES port of Guerilla War. It's pretty fun, and it's very easy, so you won't trip over each other too much playing two-player. You get unlimited continues, and pressing A and B simultaneously will re-spawn you if you just lost your last life.

Also, it's about the Cuban revolution and player 1 is Che Guevara-- and your characters wear berets.

Playing Giga Wing 2 on the DC with 4 players is just plain awesome. There's very little lag, even with a screenful of bullets and enemies in 4p mode. It's just amazing.

Crisis Force for the NES is an excellent shmup, it gets pretty laggy in one player and gets even laggier in two player, so many bullets and enemies everything flickers in an out. if you ask me it would have been amazing on the snes or something.
