Fairdoos, I think my way also is only guaranteed to work if youbhave the laser shot and 2 options, having the normal shot might still get you killed.

Yeah, definitely gotta have the laser. That's a must.

Played through Metal Torrent on the 3DS (it's a DSware title). 8 phases, but it's really really hard to die (even once) so it's just a leaderboard chase for points accrued.

Who designed stage 3 in Ikaruga? There's no way I could've prepared for that tunnel segment.

I'll let you know what I think of it when I get past stage 2.

Stage 3 is an animal...at first. Really, every stage after stage 1 requires a ton of playthroughs until they begin to feel natural. I remember thinking stage 2 was insane and now it feels like a farm with super easy chaining.

Stage 4 is my current wall on that game - i've gotten to the boss a few times out of probably 40-50 runs to stage 4.

Stage 2's boss in Ikaruga still gives me the fits long after we played it for TR last July.

Jamming a bit of 'Truxton' on the Genesis.

From the little I've played so far it seems like a pure, no-frills arcade blast.
Now I'm not the greatest at this type of genre so as soon as the difficulty increases I tend to go a little haywire.
But I'm gonna try and see this one through.

Were you using the ship with the bombs? That one is really easy.

If you use the other ship (with the laser) I think it has a healthy challenge.

For me, the hardest part about Genesis Truxton is that the kamikaze ships are much harder to react to in the limited screen space.

Luckily, and only in the Genesis version afiak, the Red powerup makes your options rotate around you, creating a sort of shield (once you get it to full power). This can help a LOT with the suicide planes, as the options will take care of them 90% of the time.

Great game, and the Genesis port is actually my favorite version. Keep at it! :)
