PADDINGTON BEAR
Exceptional. I don't know Roger Ebert as well as my Father did, but without a shadow of a doubt I can say he would give this a four star rating. The blend of cgi with live action is hands down the best featured in a "kids movie". The script is full of wit and charm, and had I not been taking notes I would look like the Thriller gif, constantly smiling while eating popcorn.
Going on a date anytime soon? See PADDINGTON BEAR. Taking the kids out for a movie? See PADDINGTON BEAR. Want to surprise the wife with a matinee? See PADDINGTON BEAR. Alone and depressed? See PADDINGTON BEAR.
Even the cheesy parts are more whimsical than cheesy. It does not disappoint in its cleverness and will leave you feeling a bit goofy when leaving the theater. Not only a great movie, but a great story as well.
THE NEIGHBORS
It is a Seth Rogen comedy. Need I say more?
If I do need to, I will say KNOCKED UP was an instant classic. If you haven't been in the lead character's situation, you know someone who has. Very easy to relate to, as are the surrounding characters. But lately, and by lately I mean the past several years, Seth's movies are formulaic.
Let me see if I have this correct:
Seth Rogen Movie:
Ingredients
Seth Rogen.
Plot based around his character's lack of common sense.
Attractive, sharp, but with a dash of bitchy female lead Seth has sex with constantly, yet she never bares her breasts.
Extras who bare their breasts.
Sex jokes.
Dick jokes.
Fart jokes.
A bit of slapstick.
A baby, for any reason.
Police.
A bad guy who is very good looking.
A bad girl who is very good looking.
Drugs.
More drugs.
Seth flipping out on drugs.
A rap song from the 80's.
More drugs.
McLovin and countless cameos.
Vomit.
Gay jokes.
Quick conflict and swift resolution.
I may have missed an ingredient or two, but that's my assessment of the Seth Rogen Comedy Movie Recipe.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Yep, I've gotten tired of Seth Rogen movies too.
Although, he was great in "Funny People". If you haven't seen that one yet, check it out. It's not what you might expect from Seth Rogen and Adam Sandler. It's unusually dramatic. Funny People is kind of a sad comedy drama (if there is such a thing) wherein Adam Sandler plays an aging comedian who acted in a string of mediocre movies. Go figure. Seth Rogan is a young comedian who gets to work as Sandler's assistant. The interaction between these two characters really makes the story.
Remember that episode of Undeclared wherein Adam Sandler makes a guest appearance and Seth Rogen is trying to play it cool the whole time? Imagine that episode inside the trappings of a Great Gatsby~esque drama.
If you're interested in the comedy industry, Funny People is a movie worth watching.

I've been in the comedy circuit for several years, even though it might not show. I do stand up, punching, editing, and reviews/screenings for a few studios.samsonlonghair wrote: If you're interested in the comedy industry, Funny People is a movie worth watching.
FUNNY PEOPLE, as I remember it was quite lethargic and seemed to have included six acys when only three were needed.
But!
There is one scene that totally nails it. Seth, Sandler and co. are all sitting around telling jokes and each comedian punches each others joke. "Punching" is just a spin on an existing joke with the intent to make it more humorous. They captivated what happens in every green room at a stand up club...or what should happen at every green room.
You sit around with total strangers, not knowing if they might steal your material, but you tell your jokes and some guy or gal will build on your existing joke and the entire thing snowballs from a joke into a five minute set. The exact same thing is portrayed in FUNNY PEOPLE without a green room. And those moments have been some of the best of my life as there is nothing like the feeling of having your stomach actually physically hurt from too much laughter. Unlike tickling, you actually feel pain.
Pain aside, I encourage everyone to add at least a five minute stand up set on your bucket list (assuming you have one). You might bomb. you might destroy. When I first started I was in a crowd over a hundred. Could not see anything. But when I got my first roar of laughter...biggest adrenaline rush I have ever had.
....
STAR WARS Marathon today. I can already say all of these films are near perfection.

That scares me a little that you say that because i own the bundle for everything up to it....and was planning on blasting through them as I clean my room today and play some grandia. Though I'm contemplating popping in my star wars tapes instead since I know now I own the right versions and they work ^_^

If you don't see it in the theater, rent it and make a party out of it.darsparx wrote: PADDINGTON BEAR

Make tea and biscuits and toast with orange marmalade. Or don't.
My point is that this an incredible film to watch with a group and is a very "I had no idea I'd love it" movie. It's nothing like GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, although it still has the same qualities of "the movie you didn't know you wanted to see". It's delightful. Not always intelligent, but always delightful.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Well guardians is on my list to watch too(it's a marvel, how can I not want to watch it?), but paddington I feel like when I was younger I read some of the books so the kid in me wants me to go see the movie
