FUN FACT: The helicopter from WarHawk is the final boss in Twisted Metal: Black. (Warhawk was developed by SingleTrac, which also developed the first two games in the Twisted Metal series.)retrosportsgamer wrote:So I always thought Warhawk for the PS1 was an isometric shooter - kind of like Desert Strike. Despite having the PS1 disc (was given to me 15 years ago if not longer) and never playing it, decided to grab it on the PSN sale so I'd have access on a couple systems.
Um, this game is not an isometric, or even a horizontal, shooter. The FMV was a nice 1995 touch at least. Now I need to get my $2.40 worth out of this.

^ Nice continuity. There is a demo for Twisted Metal after the credits screen in the original Warhawk as well.
I will say, having access to the imaged manual for these PSOne Classics is nice. I never put much stock into picking them up until I got a Vita since you have the cross-buy.

Re: What are you playing?
Aside from nearing the end of Dragon Quest VIII, I've been spending some time co-op'ing the first Gears Of War. Thus far I'd call it a fairly decent third person shooter, but nothing mind blowing. Obviously its glowing 2006 reviews were influenced by its at-the-time amazing graphics, which are merely competent by today's standards. I'd say the best aspect is chainsaw rampaging enemies to death, while the worst is the laughable Hollywood movie OST that I quickly disabled.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: What are you playing?
I am a short attention span gamer, so at any given time I've usually got a few active save files I'm working through for something in practically every genre. When I play, I usually finish a level or two, then jump to a different genre, so I might play 3-4 games in one play period.
Right now I'm slowly working through the following:
Platformer: Shantae: Risky's Revenge
FPS: Doom 64 EX and Painkiller Black
VN: Steins;Gate (which is freakin amazing so far!)
RPG: Phantasy Star IV and Ys: The Oath in Felghana
Action: Volgarr the Viking and Marlow Briggs
Survival Horror: Deadly Premonition and Outlast
Adventure: Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition and Harvester

Re: What are you playing?
Played some Adventures of Cookies and Cream, co-op with the gf yesterday.
Always heard this was a good one, but wow. We must have played for hours, and we both agreed that this was one of the better co-op games we had played. Lots of strategy and precise gameplay, especially when going for a good ranking, or trying to get all the collectibles.
The music stage was insanely cool. We spent the better part of 30 minutes at the keyboard section. If you've played it, you know what I am talking about.
Fantastic game. Its not even "good for a hidden gem", its one of the better games I've played in a while, and probably the best co-op game on the ps2. Truely unique, demanding, and fun gameplay. Seems that I really like From's games.

Playing Forza Horizon which is very good and Kingdom Hearts which is not. Who wants to go to Tarzan world? Not I!

The Kingdom Hearts games are just terrible. I also have this burning hatred for Tetsuya Nomura's character designs.

I couldn't agree more. I have tried on numerous occasions to sit down and play Kingdom Hearts and I just throw my controller up in the air in frustration at their poor design and asinine combat system.BoneSnapDeez wrote:The Kingdom Hearts games are just terrible. Re: What are you playing?
My brother asked me to get him the game for Christmas one year and even the act of buying it for someone else made me feel queasy.
