Please help a girl out!

I am a 29 yr. old female and I very occasionally play video games so I have very limited knowledge about games, especially old ones.

I remember a game I used to play at a friend's house when I was a kid and I cannot recall the title and can only remember a few things about the game and am looking for your help.

I was probably no older than 10 so this was likely a game that came out in very late 80's or early 90's, no later than 1995 I would guess. My friend had what I believe was a Sega Genesis, possibly a SNES but I honestly can't remember. I had an SNES and I want to say she had a Genesis because I think we had different consoles.

She had this game that was most likely geared towards kids and maybe females? I can't remember specifics but it was a bright-colored game similar to Kirby or Zool from what I have done in my research.

I just remember this part and it was probably in the beginning of the game where you are in a forest/jungle but you are definitely on some kind of tree branches or something and I want to say you could be a circular shaped character because I seem to recall rolling around the branches (for some reason I think I remember caterpillars but I'm not really sure about this detail). There were lots of bright colors I believe. I'm sorry this is really all I can recall and I know it isn't much but I am hoping some hardcore gamers on here will maybe know what I am talking about.

If you can think of a title please let me know and I will look it up on Google Images and see if it's a match. I know if I saw it I would remember it.

It is definitely NOT Joe&Mac, Jungle Book, Super Island Adventure from what I have done researching this. It could be a Kirby or Sonic game and maybe I'm not seeing any of the right screen captures for the level I am remembering so I guess don't take out this possibility?

That definitely sounds like Ristar (and even if it isn't, you should probably just play Ristar anyway).

It's definitely not that Sonic game.

Ristar looks like a good possibility but that isn't exactly how I remember it and I do realize that what I remember as a kid can be far different than what it actually was.

Ristar may seem familiar because it is something else I played at one time too I'm just not sure so I'm open to more suggestions......

I want to say that you were on tree branches that looked more like bamboo almost?

I looked at a full walkthrough of Ristar on Youtube and I didn't see a level that stuck out as what I remember. I don't think I ever got very far in the game because I would always die early on lol.
