I feel the same just maybe for a different reason. I don't want my handheld to strive to have all the buttons and functions of my Xbox One. The handheld represents simpler, easier to pick up gameplay in most cases and that's what I like about it. I can deal with shoulder buttons just to keep things up to date and give developers some flexibility but four shoulder buttons and an extra stick is blurring the lines too much for me.Konacha wrote:. I felt the new Nintendo 3DS XL is more like a home console than a Handheld console.

It isn't as bad as you think. The extra stick is not really a stick. It is small and feels more like a tiny touchpad then a stick and isn't really used than more camera control (or Smash Attacks). The shoulder buttons though I do agree with since I keep turning the camera on during some games. The whole thing feels like a extension of the Wii U Gamepad.Snatch1414 wrote:four shoulder buttons and an extra stick is blurring the lines too much for me.

Thats because it probably is in a way. We know they merged their development of console and handheld groups like a couple years ago. They're suffering bad on the console side except around a select release or two (Kart, Brawl) so it would entirely make sense to consolidate the controller style of the two systems into one. Watch whatever comes next just be a scalable device between handheld or at home, or just make one that works in both places because they continually refuse to keep up with the technology so they don't get the games on consoles. Handhelds sure, they're unique enough, so if they can have a handheld game also work on a console that gets rid of that little problem in a way.

Given that this is Nintendo, I am afraid I know the answer...but...
Does anyone know if I eventually get a New 3DS XL I will be able to swap my SD card back and forth between my old 3DS and my new one so that I could perhaps play the eShop games I paid for on both devices?

Most likely not. As with the home consoles they are locked with the unit, not the card or profile.dsheinem wrote:Given that this is Nintendo, I am afraid I know the answer...but...

You do know the answer.dsheinem wrote:Given that this is Nintendo, I am afraid I know the answer...but...

No, you cannot do that. Not only can't you on a locked-to-system level, but also on a the old 3DS uses SD and the new 3DS uses microSD level. (I know, you can use microSD+adapter, but still.)
Edit: Oh yeah, once you transfer your content up to the new 3DS...you can't transfer it back.

Nintendo's refusal to acknowledge the 21st Century is both so endearing and so frustratingirixith wrote:You do know the answer.dsheinem wrote:Given that this is Nintendo, I am afraid I know the answer...but...

I'm currently leaning towards 'frustrating' because I'm going to have to call them to get my NNID transferred to my New 3DS. :\dsheinem wrote:Nintendo's refusal to acknowledge the 21st Century is both so endearing and so frustrating
How hard would it be to design a "Sign in to your Nintendo Network ID" screen?
Have the Nintendo exec's ever used, oh I don't know, an email account???
