PSX to GCN Converter

Post by Reverend »

I recently heard about a converter that let PSX and PS2 remotes work with a Gamecube. I searched ebay and found them for cheap, but I can't find any details. Could someone please answer some questions and/or give some advice regarding this? Thanks :)
How does it work?
Is there any response lag?
Can the button configuration be programmed?
Is it only compatible with homebrew?

The one I have you just plug in and you're set. The buttons are mapped...

X=A
Square=B
Triangle=Y
Circle=X
R1&L1=GCN Shoulder Buttons

No lag as far as I can tell. This is the one I have...

Thanks, I think I'll invest in one. An analog stick is not the way to go when playing the Mega Man and Sonic collections.

I have a similar problem playing 2D games on the GameCube and ordered this one:

I'll post my experiences in here when it arrives.

That's the one I have. I use it to connect PSX/PS2 arcade sticks to my GCN and it seems to work fine.
