Or somewhat close to MSRP for quite some time. Mario Sports Mix was one of the last Wii titles I added and despite being out for years, it was still around $30. I don't know if you'll see it tick up given the genre here. Definitely a much slower decline.Cronozilla wrote: I usually miss out on Mario Sports games because I don't want to pay full MSRP for them, they end up just going up in price.

The more I read that last sentence the more I suspect you're right. They want to force people into doing more downloads as it's cheap, plus they can make a little extra selling Nintendo branded memory cards too to store them. I'm glad I held onto my Kid Icarus and Starfox games. I wonder if I should jsut bite the bullet and re-buy FE Awakening and force myself to make time for it as that franchise is a plague for high price aftermarket values.isiolia wrote: I think a driving force for that is a lack of reprints. You've got similar situations with Starfox 64 3D and Kid Icarus Uprising, offhand. Doing a Nintendo Selects program for the 3DS (or DS for that matter) would likely be welcome, but I suspect that Nintendo would rather we just buy them on the eShop.
Also as a side note, interesting Wii game downloads for WiiU. I guess it makes sense if you have the spare hard drive to store them. They're having severe problems getting out new games as they're carrying it virtually alone. Doing this puts minimal effort into a maximum output for interest in getting people to buy more stuff when you throw the likes of Punchout Mario Galaxy 2 and especially Metroid Prime Trilogy on there within the next month.

The Wii Virtual Console is an easy and obvious way to address any "droughts" in the Wii U lineup. It gives attention to old Wii games that Wii U owners may have never owned or even heard of. However, that is not to discredit what Nintendo has in the pipeline for the Wii U, which looks awesome (Splatoon = heart).

I wonder why they are skipping an entire generation such as the Gamecube. I mean can we assume more remakes of GameCube games are coming out just like the Wind Waker?
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I would say so to a degree maybe. There's still a chance of doing backwards compatibility, but I would suspect most likely they will go down this wii route like the games that our being this month. I think they know that they can make more money by making them a digital gamecube download; rather than giving full hardware compatibility for disc based copies.I wonder why they are skipping an entire generation such as the Gamecube. Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I'm sure they have more of the Wii and GC games planned since it's all just upgraded related retooled hardware. They can only pump out so many new games and since they have decent quality on their side, but a total lack of quantity, this would be a way to distract the owners by pushing out lesser priced HD remasters or just the Wii digital downloads to give the owners something to do.

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
They explicitly talked GameCube Virtual Console for Wii U before, so I would guess if we're not seeing anything about it yet, there's a financial reason. Also, Nintendo has only been a little more open, really, since the middle of the Wii's lifespan. Prior they were virtually a black box.
Now, they're showing rough ideas of games Miyamoto is working on so people have a bit more faith in where they're going.
But, I think Nintendo is also not going to flood us with GameCube games no matter how they go about them, virtual console or remakes.
Side note: I seriously want a Super Mario 3D All-Stars with updates of Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy, and Galaxy 2 (Hell release a special pack in with Wii U, Super Mario 3D All-Stars + World, with Super Mario 3D World)

I just wonder how the Wii digital stuff will look on the U. Will it still have all the jaggies?
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
Probably, because if they addressed it I'd imagine they'd have said something about it.Xeogred wrote:I just wonder how the Wii digital stuff will look on the U. Will it still have all the jaggies?
What I'd be interested to see is if they've removed the overscan border, since that's probably less of an advertised "feature".
I don't know if they've mentioned how they're doing this. Whether it's a modded Wii firmware that the system still reboots into, just with support for Wii U features, a Wii VM that runs on top of the Wii U OS, or actual ports to be native Wii U apps.
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
Crono odds are they're being more vocal because of the intense complaining online from gamers and the media who aren't just Nintendo suckups who avoid calling out faults. They aren't completely idiots and know the WiiU has software holes, huge ones, so they'll stuff out anything they can to increase the library and awareness.
As far as the Wii digital goes, it's Nintendo, they'll at best give it the virtual console treatment where it will hot save if you bail out, a digital manual, and it'll display as nice/poorly (as you personally feel it) as using a Wii disc on the system.
