Funniest game you ever played

The first games that come to mind are the King's Quest games ("I took a mint") and of course, Earthbound.

* All the old Lucas Arts adventure games (Space Quest, Sam and Max, Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island, etc)

* All the Parodius games

* Earthworm Jim series

* Boogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure

* Katamari Damacy (King of All Cosmos cracks me up)

Hmm...

-Earthworm Jim definitely had it's funny moments stemmed from the shear randomness of what went on in the game.

-MediEvil had some nice dry humor. Your character is a skeleton with no jaw, so nearly all of his dialogue requires subtitles. Some little snippets of dialogue got a laugh or two from me. In particular I liked it when you met the spirit of your former king, who goes into this long speech about the gravity of the situation... then notices that time hasn't been so kind to Sir Dan.

King: Good God Fortesque, what happened to your jaw?
Dan: *sobbing* Fell Off!
King: Bad luck old chap!

-While I've heard that the Lucas Arts point and click games are hilarious, they're all on my "games to play" list... although I did play the free to download episode of Sam & Max Season 1, "Abe Lincoln Must Die", which had some really funny moments in it.

Adventure games are particularly ripe with humor. Secret of Monkey Island, Space Quest IV, any Al Lowe game, Simon the Sorceror, the Spellcasting series all hilarious. The talkie version of QFG 4 had some really funny parts too.

In fact, it's hard for me to think of many non-adventure games that are particularly funny. That's probably part of why I love adventure games so much.

I agree, add the Leisure Suit Larry series to the list.

I also thought Clash at Demonhead was funny for some reason back in the day

I can't help but quote movies while playing some first person shooters...I played support in Battlefield 2142. "If he runs, he's a VC. If he stands still, he's a well-trained VC! HAHAHAHA"

No game has inspired more inside jokes amongst my friends than House of the Dead 2. "Suffer like G did?" the first boss ASKS you, for some reason.

"A successor shall carbleblarble," the final boss mumbles after you defeat him.

Pure gold.

oh man- i can't believe i forgot about house of the dead. Such a great funny game.

I can't believe that some of it wasn't on purpose. When the girl is being chased left to right by a zombie and just calmly stating "no, don't come!" i lost it.
