Kudos to those guys for making a game no one thought really needed a sequel and making it a AAA title that has a lot of imagination and thought.
I love this game as well. Unfortunately, it seems to be one of those games destined to be a forgotten gem.
...just like the original (which remains one of my very favorite GameCube games).

An amazing game but it gave me a bad taste cause I bought it used and it came without a manual.....yes I'm kind of butt-hurt about it xD

I'm pretty sure the 3DS game didn't have a real manual. So you missed out on the little controls insert.

I've got Luigi's Mansion and I've never finished it. For some reason I just lose interest when I motivate myself to play it. I can go for an hour or something, and then I just get tired of playing and I forget about it for a few months each time. The original is one of my favorites on the GC and that one got finished more than once, but the sequel something about it just bugs me but not so much that it won't get finished...eventually.

My suspicion is starting to be that I may be tiring of the direction Nintendo has diverted into when they make their franchise games as they just don't draw my interest like they did even from the early Wii and GC period. More and more digital gimmicks and junk to draw out stuff that just feels unnecessary and plodding. As it is more time is being invested in PC and PS4 stuff since they're more direct when I want and indirect when I don't.

I meant I was the one being negative here, not you. You did a good job of explaining the technological reasons the faux-scanlines appear on the 3DS when it is put into 2D mode.
Oh haha. Sorry! Beg your pardon.

I've been rocking the original black 3DS for years now, so the New 3DS XL coming in February, and at $199, is perfect. I was worried the non XL version would be coming over first.

Being a more recent 3DS owner makes me hesitant to cross over just yet. I may score a big deal with my work to get a huge percentage off or something and maybe then it will be more advantageous. For now, I am going to continue enjoying what I do have and continue to build up the already awesome 3DS library.

I find it interesting there's no mention of just the New 3DS, are we only getting the XL here? That kind of sucks and it's the first time when I get this buying a Nintendo handheld with no way to charge the battery in the box which is kind of insulting. They sell the things for $10 new / $5 refurb on their own online shop so why not just shove it in the box. :\

The better 3D head tracking, better battery life, auto-brightness changes, c-stick working for circle pad pro existing games, and the overall added cpu/memory on it makes it so tempting. Ace Combat is solid but I have the original one so that'll be a tough sell to me new unless it's cheap but Xenoblade looks excellent yet a shame it's not out until April. I could see waiting until after my b'day in March to snap this up. It's also cool they have a free pokemon puzzle game coming to download next month, and that Puzzle and Dragon Z/SMB P&D combo cart looks solid too.

Yea, I think there's some really interesting stuff coming out on the 3DS this year.
I'm just waiting for pre-orders to open up on the non-special edition of the n3DS XL (I'll probably get red). I couldn't get a pre-order for the Zelda one since they apparently sold out in 15 minutes and I was with a client.

The Puzzle and Dragon Z combo pack is a must own for me. I am so glad that they are releasing this in the US and as a bundle as well.

Also, Sega announced that Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX is coming out in NA and as a physical release too!

Which still makes me peeved that they can't give Yakuza 5 a physical release, but I digress.

There is a huge issue with the New 3DS. I don't know if it was just that particular game but I was playing Super Mario Advance 3 Yoshis Island on it and the LCD was extremely slow at responding. It made the game practically impossible to play. Anything moving on screen was practically a blur. I tried Tomodachi life and I don't if it's just that game doesn't really have much movement on it and it seemed fine. I will need to put Star Fox 64 on and see how it copes with fast movement. It's quite worrying that 2D performance is so poor.
