Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Seems like a small handful of Tetris games have stayed in Japan. We never got The Grand Master Ace on Xbox 360 over here.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I may have said this before, but every now and again I kick myself for not picking up Steel Battalion when it was clearanced out for next to nothing. I blame a combination of being in an apartment with limited space at the time and my irrational hatred (again, at the time) of Microsoft and disdain for all things Xbox.
I still feel Xbox is the weaker console out of Sony/MS offerings for me -- basically because I don't play FPS, and while there's precious few exclusives on either of them these days, the number on Sony consoles outnumbers MS consoles 2:1 or so... but I at least own them now and don't have an irrational hatred.

Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Puyopuyo Tetris and those various Japanese games haven't been localized because of how the Tetris license is handed out. Ubisoft owns the rights here in the States while Sega currently has the rights for Japan. Really really strange.
Older. Not wiser.

Not sure if this was posted somewhere around here but the remastered version of Grim Fandango will come to GoG

Yay for no DRM.

Yup, I made a mention of it on the TR 2015 calendar thread because we're playing it here in November, and also on the GOG sale thread. Truer words have never been said by Tim Schaefer: "Love is for the living and copy protection is for suckers." Already got my preorder in.Damm64 wrote:Not sure if this was posted somewhere around here but the remastered version of Grim Fandango will come to GoG

It will also be coming out on Steam and Humble Bundle but GOG is the only place where you can pre-order.

Every once in a while I'll suddenly remember that we still don't have Phantasy Star Online 2 (and probably never will) and I get heartbroken all over again.
Apparently there was a tweet a few months back that they are still planning a release at some point, with no other information given, but I'll believe that when I see it.

I feel you. I tried to play the Japanese version last year, but ran into various issues and just gave up. If they brought it to the US (finally), I'd be all over that.CFFJR wrote:Every once in a while I'll suddenly remember that we still don't have Phantasy Star Online 2 (and probably never will) and I get heartbroken all over again.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
The worst part is the official English translation is already good to go and has been for seven months now. It was done by Sega of America and used in the wider Asian release of the game.CFFJR wrote:Every once in a while I'll suddenly remember that we still don't have Phantasy Star Online 2 (and probably never will) and I get heartbroken all over again.

The fact that so many Westerners jumped through hoops to play on the Japanese server shows them there's an audience for the game, but I've given up hope at this point.
