BoneSnapDeez wrote:Maybe some audio expert can chime in, but the music in the game sounds really compressed. Listening to the OST an audio CD sounds 100 times better than it does in-game. The same is true for Lunar. Also, the sound effects and voice acting are significantly louder than the music, which can be grating. Hard to get a proper TV volume. Again, I find this to be common for games of this era.
The short video scenes look really compressed too. I imagine they've had to squeeze a 3 or 4 disc game onto two discs to cut costs

Any issues running the game on a PS3?

None whatsoever. I am playing my PS1 discs on the PS3 and have had no problems with freezing within my 24 hours of play.

I forgot to mention, I am playing this on my PSP 3000 after downloading from PSN.

The sound does still have the issues mentioned above. Frame rate does drop occasionally (I think this is normal for all versions based on what I have heard). Other than that I have not had any save or crash issues yet.
Need Hexyz Force and Class of Heroes 2 for a complete PSP RPG Set.....let me know your price!!!!

Yeah, with a lot of 32 bit games that have polygonal set pieces, frames drop drastically when the camera shifts to a more street view to see more of the area. This happens a lot in Grandia and in other games like Dark Savior on the Saturn.

I find it amusing that folks are comparing this to Final Fantasy VII when the GameSpot review says:
...Grandia is every bit as worthwhile as Final Fantasy VIII, just in different ways. While a more casual RPGer might opt for Final Fantasy VIII...
Considering how terrible Final Fantasy VIII is, this strikes me as some pretty damning praise...

I also fail to see how FFVIII is more "casual." That game is a pain in the ass. Unless by casual they simply mean "more popular and widely available."

Well guys and gals. I just got to the village and about to go to the mountain. Still loving the game, the charm and everything. I have the soundtrack on in the background while typing this on the WiiU. I love the music and have no complaints against it. My wife enjoys some of the tracks as well.

I have to say this game is better than Final Fantasy VII and I agree with everyone on that opinion. Final Fantasy VII was my first real RPG but looking back on it now; it was not the best one (mine for me is FF9 I love thst game) but it is not bad either. I dont think it should be held in such high regard as alot of people do but i get why. It was there first and you always at time; look back at your first as the best.

Well tomorrow I will go up the mountain and keep making progress. I'm taking this friday off for a little three day weekend and well hopefully make some big headway.

My OCD with the magic drawing kills it for me. I did one full run back in the day and loved it, but I've failed a couple of replays over the years now and give up on this point.

I'd rather replay IV-VII anyways.
