im thinking ill get the UK Region 2 version as well to see how that is
Adventures In Babysitting DVD from Amazon US......borders ?!
Re: Adventures In Babysitting DVD from Amazon US......border
Non-anamorphic content uses the middle of a 4:3 space.
Same effect as GameCube version Resident Evil 4, if you remember that.

DVD-rip doesn't mean much, rips aren't licenced releases. Whoever ripped it may have deleted the bars of nothingness.

theclaw is right on the money, it's a non-anamorphic release. You've got a 4:3 frame with widescreen bars baked in. So you're seeing those, plus the black bars on the sides if you're watching on a widescreen display, resulting in borders on all sides.s8n wrote: anyone know whats happening ?

It's not that uncommon to find DVDs like that. Some films wound up getting a later release with an anamorphic picture, but plenty didn't. Far as I've seen, Adventures in Babysitting only got the one DVD release in the U.S., which was non-anamorphic. A (good) DVD rip would likely cut the black bars off to save on file size. Alternatively, the Blu-ray release got a decent HD transfer, so you may have downloaded something converted from that.
Personally, if you're buying the movie again anyway, I'd just buy the Blu-ray.

If it needs to be on a DVD disc, since you already paid for the licence and do not plan to re-distribute...

I have a few dvds with this problem. Luckily my TV has a few different zoom settings that I can use to make it look right.
