Get 3D Dot Game Heroes. It is basically everything you love about video games rolled into one incredibly awesome package.
Co-sign. One of the only reasons I still own a PS3.

How does that work? Can you go back and forth between the two maps or something?

Working through 3 games at the minute:

Grandia - Playing this for together Retro. I reckon I'm nearly half way through? I decided to take a little break from this yesterday, but I'll be jumping right back in tonight.

Captain Toad - This is the game I played during my break from Grandia. Playing an hour or two of this here and there is a nice palette cleanser after chugging through a long RPG.

Fantasy Life - I've not been playing much of this since I started Grandia due to lack of time, but it's pretty great. Trying to fit 20 minutes of it in on my train home from work.

A friend and I passed the controller back and forth on Ninja Gaiden for NES and got to the final boss. Couldn't bring ourselves to keep playing through level 6 over and over just to get back there though. Oh well, I never thought I'd beat that boss anyways. I've gotten far enough now that I feel like I can start on the sequel though.

Also started seriously playing Blaster Master last night. Got to level 3 and died and it was time for bed. Will try to beat that sucker.

After a 6+ month hiatus I went back to playing a bit of Star Wars: The Old Republic. It went through a sizable update. I still like it quite a bit. They changed the leveling system in terms of what happens when you level up. No more points like Mass Effect. So I think that was an improvement. I let my time with the game lapse so I am rocking Premium F2P status. Its fine to reach the end game.

I am still playing Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth. It is brilliantly immersive first-person adventure game with shooting elements. (You do not obtain a weapon of any sort until several hours into game.) The lack of a HUD means that you have to count your shots (and your enemies' shots) so that you know when to reload (or attack). You also have to evaluate your "health" by analyzing your wounds. (If the color is slowly fading off the screen and sounds become muffled, you are bleeding to death; if you are having trouble aiming or moving, you probably injured your arms or legs in some way; etc.) Moreover, everything in the game takes time. Guns take a few seconds to reload, and it can take nearly a minute to dress your wounds. Finally, the game does not hold your hand at all, and there are typically multiple ways to approach the game's challenges. (The game's focus on "realism" also makes it very challenging, and the residents of Innsmouth have cut me down many, many times.)

As a fan of H.P. Lovecraft's work, I probably would have enjoyed the game if it had just been a standard FPS. I am beginning to think it is one of the most well-designed games of its generation, however, and I am sad that the developer never received the opportunity to make a sequel (or otherwise follow up on some of the design choices implemented in this game).

Batman: Arkham Origins

The parts they used from Arkham Asylum and City are still pretty good.
Most of the new work they did is glitchy, though.

I haven't had a single boss encounter yet that didn't have bugs.
