Your longest living console

I've had my mega drive 2 for 13 years now and while the controllers have had to be swapped out the console itself still works. Aside from red light in the middle that went out years ago.
Well you know how it was when you were younger and getting frustrated at games

So anyone able to top that and im only talking about consoles you have owned since they were new.

I think mine is my Genesis II, though it has mysteriously gone missing from the box in my parents basement. I've had it since 1995 I think.

Other than that I haven't owned many consoles, only recently have I been buying them.

2600 still works.

Master System since 1991, but I do have an Atari ST which was my brothers from years before that, but it's not mine I guess

PlayStation 2 since early 2001 (January, I think, if not February), but I had to get it repaired some time ago (like about late '07/early '08).

And next to that is my Nintendo GameCube, which I've had since 2002. I got it the day before the first day of school. I worked on my dad's job site (he's in the construction business, mostly rental cottages), making about $7/hour, but I spent most of my time sitting in the van since all I had to do was tote lumber (it's not as heavy as you think) and clean up the site. After a few weeks, I managed to save up almost $600. And I bought a Jet Black console, two matching controllers, two memory cards, and a few games. I have 4 Jet Black wired controllers and a Wirebird (free w/ my copy of Mario Party 4). And it's worked fine since.

My Xbox, purchased in 2003 after doing more work at my dad's job site, is currently in need of a repair. You see, the first controller port is damaged. It's not faulty, but the wires are bent since the plastic piece that holds them in place broke off. And I'm not gonna get it repaired until I back up all my important data from the hard drive.

But my longest living portable is a Game Gear. I got it for Easter over 10 years ago. Actual date is unknown, possibly 1995. I used to have only two games for it: Sonic 2 and Sonic Spinball. But the latter is gone now, it's fate still unknown. Sonic 2, however, is still in my possession. Sadly, however, the battery covers are gone. I've tried using cardboard squares the size of the battery compartment in tandem with duct tape. I also would use the AC adapter from an old Sega Genesis. But since I only have one game for it, and since most games for it are usually just inferior ports of console games, there's no real point to buying new games for it.

I don't have any consoles I've had since they were new. I know I sold the NES way back when. I think my brother kept the Genesis, I know he kept the Dreamcast. That's all the consoles I've had new, I tend to wait a generation or two to pick up a console.

kind of amazing that the hardware still holds up. Makes xbox/xbox 360 look like hunks of junk.

My Dreamcast and my GBA SP are the only consoles I bought new that I still have. All my other systems were purchased or traded as used units.

Im pretty sure any cartridge based console can outlive anything that uses a cd or dvd. Only thing that seems to fault them is a dirty cartridge or slot.

I still have my original brick-sized Gameboy which I got brand new in (I think) 1994. Works perfectly and has practically no scratches on the screen.

Arion is right by the way, CD and DVD based console have shorter lives because of the moving parts.
