Are we talking about going back to areas multiple times? Because the layouts in most of those areas changed significantly enough that you were still experiencing new stuff.

If you play Zelda games for the dungeons, this is the game for you. Even the "overworld" sections are mini-dungeons. For me, that makes it absolutely fantastic.

I for one loved Twilight Princess. My only real beef with it was the Tears of Light vessel filling nonsense where you had to seek out the hidden bugs. It was okay once, but having to do it multiple times was a bit of obvious padding.

I wish Midna had her own game.

Other than the fights with The Imprisoned, I felt that it was an amazing title. My only other issue was while playing it on the Wii, I had seen videos like this:

So I knew how good those muddy textures could look

I thought the first fight with the Imprisoned was good, especially since it was like fighting something out of Princess Mononoke in terms of the art direction. But then the repeated fights didn't add enough to the formula.

I'm so disappointed the Wii U can't emulate/enhance Wii games like this.

I'm with you guys on the Imprisoned battles. That was the low point for me, along with the Tears of Light thing for Twilight Princess. Totally forgot about that actually haha, but now thanks to the reminder I can recall not liking those parts.

Sarge has a good point about the overworld. I feel like Twilight Princess was very much designed like OoT with the bigger open overworld, whereas Skyward Sword feels a bit like Majora's Mask and Wind Waker mixed up a bit. It has that big main hub in the middle and then it's broken up into smaller but complicated sections. The flying was never a chore and didn't take up too much thankfully and yeah, the backtracking never bugged me much since the locations kept changing up a bit. My only complaint there was that I do feel like it was kind of needing a snowy/cold area, but oh well. Despite not having the biggest selection of main areas in the game, it was probably the longest Zelda for me and is riddled with dungeons, which is always my main love with Zelda (why I prefer OoT over MM, etc).

Is this game different enough compared to OOT and TP? I used to love 3D zelda games, but nowadays I can't even enjoy my favorite one (WW).

It carried over some elements from TP but overall it felt drastically different than both those titles to me.

I'd agree with this.

Core elements are still there, OOT and TP are obviously very comparable... but yeah SS is different than those. Like I said earlier I believe I think SS is a little more like WW with the world being broken up a bit more, but the flying takes absolutely no time in comparison to the sailing. The worlds are a bit more complex and less open, almost dungeon like, but I liked that.

It's worth checking out.
