hey all...been lurking a few days since I just set up my saturn again.
this site poped up in my search for some info. nice site !
I didn't have consoles when I was a kid, my cousins had pong...but I didn't find that too compelling I guess. about 8 yrs ago a friend got a job in gaming and encouraged me to take a run at it. that's where I came in, just before the Dreamcast lunch.
I took a class on 3D animation apps and learned photoshop on my own...doing some skins for QuakeIII as a lot of people were doing at the time. at this time I also bought some consoles and games to see what video games were all about too. I got an snes, saturn ps and signed up for the new dreamcast. that was my intro to the Internet at home.
I work in a metal shop so I hadn't had a need for computers til then.
anyway...I never got a job in games. maybe for the best, I hear you spend way over the average guys 40 hrs a week and being salary...kinda messes with your hourly rate. at any rate that was how games and computers got into my life.
I don't even know if I qualify as a gamer, but I had some questions I wanted to post and also might as well say thanks for all the work putting up the info on games and systems.
recently I've been in the process of modernizing my electronics. lost my old WinNT workstation for a Dell XPS. lost my 300 lb Sony XBR for a Sharp Aquos (goodbye HOTD)...bought a PS3 and PSP. I sprung for the 80 gig 4 USB PS3 w/ software BC and so far it's fine.
and as I said I just set up my saturn again. I was lucky enough to buy a copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga at normal used game prices at Funcoland back when I was buying some used systems. I left that game just before the end of disc 1 and my saves are still there. I want to play through it at least once, I'm not really a big RPG fan but the guy at Funcoland sold me on the game back then and I've since learned it's value and what a landmark game it is. I love the weird creatures, I'd like to translate one or two into a paper model.
I dig Id Software FPS. Kennith Scott is my game art god.
right now I'm playing MGS and MGS4, Ridge Racer 7, GRID and just trying out some of my old PSX games on my PS3
it's my second run through MGS4...looking for special items and events I missed on the first go.
I'll be starting up PDS when I get my s-video cable in the mail soon.

Re: howdy
oh, heh maybe they belong other sections....but,
would you keep your old playstation seeing as the PS3 will run your old psx games ?
if I was to sell my DC, would it be best to sell it with the official DC mags I got when I subscribed at launch ?
not really shure if I want to sell it. it's packed away atm but I might get it out again.
lately I've been thinking I wish I had the MGS3 Subsistance limited edition with can fetch $200 on ebay. I was thinking maybe...just maybe of trading my Panzer Dragoon Saga for it. not shure where I'd find a trading partner but this seems to be a good place to look.
heh, you know, general bs that most people wouldn't have much of an opinion on.

Ocelot, did it again...sorry Boss !
Re: howdy
Well, first off...even the PS2 wasn't fully backwards compatible. There are some PS1 games that simply won't work on the PS2(or PS3 I believe). Peripherals that plugged into the PS1 such as through its I/O port also don't work on the PS2 or PS3, so if you want to use some of the GameSharks or bigger memory devices(or print that form for beating Omega Weapon in FF8), you'll need your PS1. Plus, the PS1 doesn't sell for very much, so it's really not worth getting rid of anyway.
Don't sell your Dreamcast! They're great machines! But, if you really want to, it's cool. Some of the archiving guys might be interested, but I don't think the general public will want them. Either way, remember to offer it here first, so you'll at least know it's going to a good home.
As for Panzer Dragoon Saga for MSG3: Subsistence...it really comes down to your call. Somebody might be willing to trade for it. You can advertise this in the Buy/Sell/Trade section of our forums if you like, as well as the DC and magazines.
Have fun chief, and welcome aboard!

Re: howdy
I would keep the PS1. I've heard some of the old games don't play too well on the PS3 and the best you'd get is probably 20 USD.
I would also keep the Dreamcast. They're worth very little and somehow I always find myself going back to it right when I start to get tired of video games. I love all the old arcade games for the system. House of the Dead 2, Crazy Taxi, and all that jazz
. If you like id Software, then you may want to look into getting Quake III Arena with the Dreamcast keyboard and mouse. Just a thought
.
If you want to trade Panzer Dragoon Saga for the Subsistence Special Edition, I say go for it. There's no point in keeping it if you'd have more fun with MGS3. You may get lucky on the Buy/Sell/Trade forums finding someone who wants to trade, but you may be better off just selling it. If you deal on Racketboy you get to avoid all the sale fees sites like Amazon and eBay have and could almost get enough for the Subsistence Special Edition. Be careful though, people here like to haggle

Re: howdy
hey, thanks for your thoughts.
I'm not much of a seller of stuff. so It's more likely I'll look up some DC games on this site and continue using it.
I wouldn't be selling for need of money, yet anyway ! hopefully my boss won't crash the buisness !
I could be happy w/ MGS3 Subsistance if I can find a torrent for the extra DVD in the limited edition. I do think I'd have more fun w/ MGS than PDS but at the same time I like having the game. heh, you know how that is.
I did post in the Deramcast magazine thread. if I can help I will.
