Ya know it's funny man, when you joined the competition over there and started posting regularly, I was like, "Awesome, that's gotta be Exed from the Racketboy forums!" But I didn't mention that I kinda sorta knew of you at the time since, well ... weird internet lurker is weird. At any rate now you're the current ruler of the GameEx Hi-Score Leaderboards! Just goes to show that you come from excellent pedigree over here.ExedExes wrote:nullPointer from the GameEx forum?

Thanks for the welcome gents!
Re: New Members: Introduce Yourself!
Yes, welcome to RB.
I've mentioned where I came from there a few times.
As you well know, competition is in my blood. I'm looking forward to the upcoming Mame Olympics! I also have taken over the hosting duties of a friendly competition here on RB in the world of shmups, with a new game featured every month. It's more of giving a certain game in the genre its own spotlight, and we're in our 4th successful year doing that now.
Take a look around and I'm sure I'll see you here as much as GameEx

Hey all,
Newbie here (as of minutes ago). Really have been disconnected from online/gaming life for many a years. All I've really ever known was gametz.com and as of the last year or so, nintendoage. The latter feels way to serious and people that have too much money on their hands! The former is my home (been there for 13+ years) when it comes to buy/sell/trade; however a member from there had recommended I check out this site, so here I am. So far so good, seems like a cool and active place!
Started a couple threads already. Looking for some rarer Zelda games and got to showcase my collection which gives a little background of who I am.
Anyway, just like the majority of our generation. Getting old (32), missing the golden days of gaming and trying to relive my childhood through gaming
. Getting married next week and hopeful to steal some of the wedding funds to pick up some more for the collection
!
Look forward to connecting with you all and hopefully make some new friends/trades/purchases.
See ya!

Re: New Members: Introduce Yourself!
Hi I am 33 and been collecting games off and on throughout my life. Recently I been wanting to replay or experience games I missed from my childhood.
Re: New Members: Introduce Yourself!
Welcome to the forum Mr Bean and Autopilot! You guys will not be alone in age around here... There are plenty of "seasoned" gamers here. I myself am 30, have a wife, a kid, the whole shebang minus the the pets. With age comes wisdom and appreciation. Hopefully you two will see some of that reflected here on the forum.

Fear not good sir! Rambling and ranting are always welcome as it is a sign of openness and honesty, a long since forgotten trait here on the internet! You say that the NES really opened up the imagination of gaming to you. Any particular games that stand out as being some of the real pinnacle moments for you? What is your white rabbit? The one thing that you would die to have?nullPointer wrote:Hello Racketeers! (Sorry … that's probably been done before, but I couldn't resist)
Longtime lurker first time poster here. It's actually a bit crazy that I've not become properly involved with the Racketboy community until this point, as I've been a fan of the articles for a few years, and a regular follower of the forum for over a year. IMO this is one of the very best retro gaming communities on the internet, and I really dig the thoughtful gaming discussions and debates that can be found here. Among other things, I hope to become involved with at least one Together Retro game this year!
My lifelong love of gaming began with the NES in 1987. I had played games before that time, but the NES opened up a world of "Capital-G" Gaming for me. At this point I'm mostly into emulation, due in large part to space considerations and family, but I have definitely gone through collection building periods as well. I have varying collections of NES, SNES, PS1 and PS2 titles stowed and stored in various places, with the NES collection being the most sizable.
I'm a father of twin girls who just started kindergarten this year, so finding time for gaming can be tough at times, but my family trumps all. One of my kids has discovered gaming and she and I will sometimes burn through a couple levels of co-op in one of the Lego games, while my other girl couldn't really care less about playing video games.
Outside of gaming I enjoy hiking, mountain biking, and snowboarding (which is a sub-textual way of saying I love living in Montana). I've also played bass for a number of years, and I'm just starting out on (6 string) guitar as of this year (thank you Rocksmith!). I enjoy most types of music (classic rock, hip hop, country, baroque, big band, whatever … so long as it's played well and with heart I'll most likely dig it), but if I'm alone or listening on head phones, it's probably going to be punk or metal.
So wow, I kind of blathered on a bit there! Uh … Hi!
Also, isn't Co-Op gaming really fun? Nothing is more bonding than sitting down with a loved one and working through a game together as a team. Sure there may be those frustrating, "Go here! No here!!! HERE! ARGH!" moment, but they are definitely worth it when you overcome those obstacles.
Anyways, welcome and enjoy your stay! It is a pleasure to have you in our midst.
Welcome aboard and it is an absolute pleasure to have you aboard! So, tying the knot eh? How does your wife feel about gaming? I was very lucky to have a wife who was into gaming and was very supportive of my collection. Although not all of it is out on display, she at least puts up with some of the weirder choices like NEEDING to have my Virtual Boy out and about for the public to ogle.MrBean wrote:Hey all,

As for your collection, which one piece really is the spotlight item that you absolutely love and really sums up your personality as a gamer and collector? For me, it definitely was said Virtual Boy. I have a love for the odd and unusual, with a ton of FMV games for the PC and Sega CD and what scattered few are out there on the Playstation and Saturn. I love for the cheesy, yet charming and it really sums up who I am a person. I love the weird growing pains of gaming and find that to be one of the most unique and interesting periods, much like film making in the 1980's. So many strange ideas and even stranger results that are filled with charm.
Anyways, I digress. Welcome!
Greetings and Salutations! Any particular games out there in particular you are looking for? For me, I was a huge sega fanatic in my youth, so a lot of the must-play titles were covered, thanks to my oldest brother's spending. The Super Nintendo, though, is where my experience is almost non-existent. Aside from some of the hallmark Nintendo titles, I don't have much experience and would love to branch out to that system.Autopilot wrote:Hi I am 33 and been collecting games off and on throughout my life. Like I said in my previous address to Mr. Bean, I was lucky enough to have a wife who put up with my insanity, letting me have my PS3, Wii U, Dreamcast, PS2, N64 and Model-1 Genesis and Sega CD hooked up, as well as my Virtual Boy on display..... yeah, I got problems!Autopilot wrote:Thanks my wife says I have reverted back to my childhood currently with snes and genesis hooked up to living room tv and I just bought a replacement nes CIB.. Anywho, welcome aboard and continue to enjoy your systems man! It is great to have you!

Re: New Members: Introduce Yourself!
I am completely opposite. I grew up on nes, snes, and n64. The only sega games I played was sonic till I got dreamcast in 99.
My wife did buy my CIB nes the other day so I can't complain she just doesn't want it all in our living room entertainment stand.
