You know I'm surprised that Ys 3 on the SNES is still cheap, it defies logic. I mean it is a good RPG on the SNES and yet is still a $10 game

prfsnl_gmr's scathing reviews have caused the price to drop.

Because you have to grind for 30 minutes by killing bugs in a cave before you can even do anythingninjainspandex wrote:You know I'm surprised that Ys 3 on the SNES is still cheap, it defies logic. I mean it is a good RPG on the SNES and yet is still a $10 game

Not where it used to be, around $5, but a lot better than the $15 it currently goes for.prfsnl_gmr wrote:I bought Race Drivin' the other day for $2.99...Does that make you feel better?
can some one clear my memory, retro games for SNES and Genesis, how much were they going for around 07-08?
I remember they were the cheap of cheaps $5-$10 max, only rare ones would be priced a lot higher.
There is a retro renaissance happening right now and everyone is trying to make a business by reviewing games and broadcasting on Twitch

The Genesis port doesn't allow this, which I found infuriating.
Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
30 minutes nothing. You can tape down a couple of buttons and leave the game on overnight in that first area. The next morning, you'll be max level. Ys III has its own Lete River trick.SNESdrunk wrote:Because you have to grind for 30 minutes by killing bugs in a cave before you can even do anythingninjainspandex wrote:You know I'm surprised that Ys 3 on the SNES is still cheap, it defies logic. While we're talking "tape button and leave overnight" tricks, Contra 3 on the SNES lets you do the same. One of the bosses in level 3 won't ever kill you if you stay on either side of the screen, just leave a button down to shoot what it sends after you, and tons of extra lives.

Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
That sounds about right. Up through around 2011 most games would fall into the $1-10 range. The stuff that tended to be higher were the actual legit rarer games that didn't fly under the radar, fanboy junk (earthbound, square RPGs), later release games with less copies (SMRPG, Kirby Dream Land 3), and just some random stuff. The bulk of it was garage sale cheap if we're talking just carts and in a lot of cases even complete too because the fascination for gouging over paper and cardboard is more recent in video games too as for the longest time if you bought used and they were included, the price was the same and was just a lucky break/courtesy.RCBH928 wrote: can some one clear my memory, retro games for SNES and Genesis, how much were they going for around 07-08?

Again why I've backed off buying stuff anymore. This was brought up over at Digital Press and it made me curious so I checked my ebay account. I found other than one game nearly a year ago now last march (Ogre Battle 64) I hadn't bought an old Nintendo cart based game since like July/Sept of 2013 because I wasn't just going on about it, I really am fed up with the abuses. I switched to famicom, gba, and more recently legos.

I just can't believe Super Mario 64 carts are going for $25 now, just insane. it has to be the most common game for the N64, like Tetris was for the Gameboy or SMB for the NES.
