Copying Playstation saves to computer and back?
Copying Playstation saves to computer and back?
Ok so this has been bugging me for awhile, I know there's the psx emulator for playing ps1 games and I was wondering if there might be a possibility of somehow copying the saves to and from my memory cards just so i can a.) have a backup and b.) if I so desired play them on the go. The only problem with say the portable versions of some games I know are out now is there's differences especially story-wise(I'm looking at you Lunar psx vs gba
), so if there's some way to possibly copy them off and use it with a nvidia shield(or some other device since I'm looking to possibly find a bluetooth clone of the psx controller if possible for sake of authenticity when playing) and when I'm back home to copy the saves back it would be great. Is there any possibility of doing something like this? (or a easier way because I looked it up on my lunch last night and yeah didn't find much in the way of simply explaining it or even saying what tools might be needed)

I feel like something like this can be done with one of those USB memory card adapters designed for use with the PS3. Good luck getting one of those for cheap, though.

If you have a PS2 you can use Free MC Boot to copy saves from a memory card to a USB stick then back again. I know you can with PS2 saves/memory cards, so I assume it would work the same for PS1 as well. This would be the easiest way to do it, as far as I know.
When I got the Sonic Mega Collection for PS2 I wanted to have all the games unlocked without having to do the work. So I was able to download a save from GameFAQs and copy onto my memory card using the file browser you get with FMCB and it worked perfectly.
edit: If you don't already have FMCB installed on a PS2 memory card, just ask on the forums. Any one that already has FMCB can easily install it on other memory cards, it takes about a minute to do.

these things are pricey now? I've had sitting in a drawer for years.TSTR wrote:I feel like something like this can be done with one of those USB memory card adapters designed for use with the PS3. Good luck getting one of those for cheap, though.

Just like the Dreamcast Memory Card to PC Parallel Port, I have the Serial version of the PS1 as well. A stand alone Dex Drive Module takes any PS1 Memory card. Also have the N64 version, I should look into some sort of USB adapters for these.noiseredux wrote:these things are pricey now? These of course are only for the orginal console, not the PSN games.

There is a Windows driver and accompanying application for the PS3 Memory Card Adapter. Now the application is command line, so if you're not used to the command line, read the list of commands here carefully.TSTR wrote:I feel like something like this can be done with one of those USB memory card adapters designed for use with the PS3. Same here. I'm thinking of selling it now since I have a PS2 now.noiseredux wrote:these things are pricey now? I've had sitting in a drawer for years.
