I will soon start playing one of the games I have been waiting all my life to play, FF7!

Any one wants to share any tips or guidelines before i start playing this game?
Note: I hate grinding and random encounters. Also, not an RPG fan

Sounds like you won't like this at all then.

Don't feel obligated to load every character down with magic. Magic reduces your physical stats (health and attack damage) when equipped. So let a few people be mages and you can let a few people be physical attackers.

FF7 turned a lot of people on to RPGs who'd never played any before.

If you already know you don't like them, it won't change your mind.

I just... hate FF7. Even back when I loved most of the RPGs I played, I hated FF7. It took everything I didn't like in FFVI/3 and made it worse. I got to, or just past, can't remember, the Gold Saucer and quit, because the game irritated me. Then I went on to play and enjoy Panzer Dragoon Saga and Grandia on my Saturn and I was happy again.

FF7 is certainly divisive. It is my all time fave JRPG.

FF7's so ubiquitous and so popular that it feels like everyone has played it and everyone has an opinion on it. Kinda interesting really, but yeah, it's EXTREMELY divisive.

I loved it back when, I haven't played it in a long time though.

Final Fantasy VII is the game that made me fall in love with the JRPG genre. It wasn't my first RPG and it wasn't what got me into the genre, but as I said, it is what made me fall in love. Everything about the characters, the world and the story I really loved. It was the first Final Fantasy game I played (Not through choice. UK gamer here... But thanks to gaming magazines, I was aware of the franchise and wanted to play the games).

That said, I think I prefer Panzer Dragoon Saga and Grandia. Maybe. But neither define my childhood as much of FF7.

I liked FF VIII and FF IX more, but that's just me.
