I'm tempted to pick this up but the PS3 version is supposed to be the worst one? Doesn't it only support 720p? The PS4 and XB1 versions are running at 1080p. I have absolutely no fucking idea why. It sounds fucking dumb that they would limit the PS3 when it was more than capable of displaying PRE FUCKING RENDERED backgrounds with 2-3 high polygon models on screen.

You are correct. It also apparently suffers from minor frame rate issues, that didn't exist in the Gamecube original...

It absolutely blows my mind. This and the abysmal 'HD' port of Resident Evil 4 to PC come to mind. They took the absolutely shite RE4 PC port from several years ago, added some additional options into the options screen and made the controls actually work. That's it. Textures look like fucking garbage. Weird performance drops for no reason. AND to top off an astoundingly shite port, they even used PS2 quality cutscenes. WHY???? Fuck me, I just don't understand what is going on at Capcom these days.

Capcom would've been gone this generation if it weren't for Monster Hunter and the 25 versions of Street Fighter and Resident Evil. However, the milk is gonna run out at some point on those cows.

What's wrong with Capcom? They've run out of ideas, at least the ideas the suits will allow so all they do is find the cheapest most lazy and fast way to make a buck shoveling out crap from their past they know the fans will buy and either like or end up regretting later which is fine as they got paid. As he said above, if it wasn't for Monster Hunter and SF4 they'd be screwed already.

The company already admitted a year or so back they were open to be bought if anyone wanted it, and interesting enough no one wants it so far. Maybe they're hoping for them to implode off some really bad deal like THQ did and people can scramble for all their glorious IPs piece by piece like vultures on a corpse. I wouldn't blame anyone thinking that as it would be far cheaper to pick off individual things if you don't want it all.

I'm kind of surprised someone like Nintendo or Sony doesn't snap them up in a controlling stake making them a 2nd party and forcing the quality releases gamers want as it would move like gangbusters.

Fuck that. Capcom has made and released many great games in the past decade, including NEW entries from many classic IPs.

Yeah. Granted they have laid down more than a few turds in the recent past, but there is gold in there as well.

There is now way I'm gonna dispute that they have had some very strong new IP in the last 10 years. However that well does appear to have dried up sadly. I think due to departures of key staff to other companies like Suda51's Grasshopper and Platinum etc. The last couple of years seems like just rehashes of old franchises or ports. It's a real shame.
