Went "treasure hunting" today at EB and am I ever glad I did.
I found a factory sealed original PS1 longbox copy of Resident Evil for $2.99. The guy working there told me that they've been getting in a lot of original PlayStation games lately so it might be worth everyone checking their local...
Score! EB is good for something...

Nice find. My local EB stores don't even carry PS1 games, or Dreamcast for that matter. They sure are swimming in used Wii shovelware though.Cassidy wrote:Went "treasure hunting" today at EB and am I ever glad I did.

Sealed? I find that hard to believe. You know that EB/Gamestop reseals their games now right? Its a big controversy.

No PS1 games at my local Gamestops, either.

Wow, you got lucky. My re1 longbox is so badly falling apart that I had to use super glue just to get the thing to hold together.
My EB hasn't sold ps1 games since like 2004 sadly. Hell, I barely shop there anymore, I just go to the used video store that carries games all the way back to the Intelevision.

I'm the guy that threatened to contact Microsoft's lawyers because they broke the seal on a copy of Ninja Gaiden then sold it to me as new at full price - which is strictly regulated.Mozgus wrote:Sealed? Trust me, I couldn't believe it either - the guy just shrugged and said that he knew it was worth more than $2.99 but if the SKU isn't in their system they just buy it for pennies and turn it over. My guess is someone didn't know what they had and turned it in.
At any rate, I played it for a bit for the first time in close to 12 years and forgot how...charming the game is.

That's when I stopped shopping there. Grandia 3 came out and I went to go buy it (I'm a fag for Game Arts... I know).
I walked up to the counter and said I want Grandia 3 new.
"You know you can save 5 bucks if you buy it used!"
"5 whole dollars? Really? Woooooowwwww... nah, I'll take it new please."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I like this company, I want them to make more games."
"Oh that's a load of shit."
"Give me my game."
"Fine."
He turns around and pulls out a case, then opens a drawer and starts looking for a disc.
"Excuse me, I said I wanted it NEW."
"Oh, this is new."
"You've opened the game!?"
"It's just our practice."
"And my practice is to walk."

I was in there recently and they were actually going over a list of games they resealed. Talking about it right in front of me.lordofduct wrote:That's when I stopped shopping there. Grandia 3 came out and I went to go buy it (I'm a fag for Game Arts... I know).

Yeah, they're really nonchalant about that kind of stuff. I found out at the local Gamestop that they let employees take home new copies of games (that have been opened) and play them... and then bring em' back and sell them as new!

I stopped going to EB after they tried to sell me a copy of Senko No Ronde with a cracked case as "new". The guy was like "Look, the disc is perfect!" and was bewildered as to why I decided not to purchase it.
I stated "It's not sealed, so it's not new." and then he proceeded to imply I was picky. I just turned around and left at that point in disbelief.
Also, one time they sold my pre-order to someone else. Seriously, what the fuck?
