Re: What are you playing?
I have stopped playing FF8 and decided to invest my time in Conkers Bad Fur Day, which I am loving! I like how its less focused on collecting like some other Rare platforms...
I have to wait and see also what my GF got me for Christmas..I highly suspect either the Earthbound box and inserts to complete my cartridge or Harvest Moon CIB for SNES...guess one of the two will be next in line

The "reading" becomes much more manageable as the game goes on.Sano wrote:Radiant Historia on DS. I remember reading it was a great game but LOTS of reading. Let me tell you.... LOTS OF READING! Great game so far though.
Awesome RPG. Probably my favorite original JRPG on the DS.

I received many excellent games over the holidays, including Kirby Triple Deluxe, Mass Effect Trilogy, Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright, Super Mario 3D World, Ultra Street Fighter IV, etc. The one I am obsessed with right now...

Re: What are you playing?
With lots of delicious holiday time off, I finally got around to hooking up my new Xbox 360 Model E and PS3 SuperSlim in the living room. This is the first time I've messed around with these systems (yes I'm a generation behind in console land). I've tried a mishmash of games on them thus far, and have only been mildly impressed. As I guessed, the 360 and PS3 games are very much the same sort of games as I was playing on OG Xbox and PS2, only with improved graphics and larger environments. Well anyway, the games I've played the most so far have been Mortal Kombat Komplete and Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition on 360. Very fun fighting games but quite challenging compared to older Mortal Kombat games I've played. These are more technical skill oriented than in the past and just spamming the same few attacks won't get you to the final boss for sure.
Other than that, I've got about 45 hours in Dragon Quest VIII and I'm still enjoying the heck out of it. DQ VIII is probably the apex of traditional JRPG mechanics and conventions. I think I understand why after it, SQEX started making radically different DQ games. They know they can't top DQ VIII insofar as traditional DQ is concerned... this is the final evolution of that formula.

Get 3D Dot Game Heroes. It is basically everything you love about video games rolled into one incredibly awesome package.Exhuminator wrote:PS3 SuperSlim

Re: What are you playing?
First impressions of the two games I got for Christmas:
Alien: Isolation: The atmosphere in this game is pretty good and faithful to the first movie for sure. It's pretty simple to play but there's these switch boxes they don't do a great job of explaining how they work. I wish they'd give you a damn manual with these new games. Soon as I go the eff online I'll figure that out and continue on. I've played an hour and have only seen the alien once and that was just on pure accident where I missed having to press a button for a train to move. I thought it would just go meanwhile I was getting tracked and didn't know it. Not ruling out this was sort of on purpose though to put the fear in you early. Overall, I think it'll be a good one.
The Evil Within: So far (again, so far) the first level of this game and its marketing have felt like a bait and switch. The beginning is awesome. I won't go into spoiler territory but the gameplay gets pretty forgettable in a hurry. Also, I'm currently at a point where the autosave kicked in as soon as I walked into a trap and had 3/4 of my health drained. Disappointing so far but we'll see.

Re: What are you playing?
I thought this was an uninspired The Legend Of Zelda ripoff? I mean, that's what I read about it. Not saying the game's bad, it just fell off my radar due to that criticism. Keeping the thread on track, besides DQ VIII, I started playing Resident Evil 5 via co-op on 360 tonight. I don't know about single player, but RE5 is crazy fun in co-op.

Re: What are you playing?
First off, Happy New Year, people! Hope your 2015 is an awesome year!
I asked my Mum for Okami for Wii for Christmas, as well as the official artbook, and am thoroughly enjoying both. While i was at the family home over the festive period, and without my Wii, i delved back into God Eater Burst (PSP) on my Vita, interspersed with Velocity Ultra and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Amazed at how the latter still plays so well, and i can still enjoy the graphics, 17 years after first playing it on PSOne.

Re: What are you playing?
I'm getting a stinker out early: Assassin's Creed III
I might not finish this one.
Other games in my current rotation: Captain Toad and Saints Row The Third (90% and counting)
I need to get the game area in my house cleaned up so I can have things hooked up again. Have a lot of games that are half finished on non-current systems.
I've noticed that if I make a list of things I want to play, it's like making a list of things I won't play.

Currently playing through Watch Dogs on the Wii U. I like the game and while I have not played Assassins Creed games at all I have played Far Cry 3 and 4 and like how they have a "Progression" menu that shows all of the main and side missions as well as number of collectibles. They show rewards at certain intervals and achievements at the end of those particular progression bars. Its a nice thing to have for completionist.
