Yeah, it's pretty common to see the solder joints crack for input jacks. Fixing them is as easy as applying flux and heating up the joint with a solder iron.

I also highly recommend adding a little bit of solder to the joints as well, that will prevent the problem from happening again.

Well, I have purchased a soldering iron and some solder. I will be visiting my uncle over the New Year holiday and he has some soldering experience so I am going to pack it up and take it with me.

I will let you all know how it turns out.

Yeah, adding some solder is a good idea. I'm just hesitant to say that to beginners since most people new to solder will add too much solder to joints. And actually, if you know what you're doing, you don't even need to flux the joint. Just heat it up with a tinned iron then add some solder (which contains flux) and you're done.
