I got lucky and got a hand shake at lunch. 20 mins co-op in Freedom Wars on Vita.

But now? Nothing. Apparently XBL and PSN are still under heavy DDoS attack.

I disabled the internet connection on my PS4 through settings to prevent any stability issues with games that try to call home frequently.

New Tomb Raider seems pretty cool.

Yeah, fuck those guys. I don't know if they're the anarchist type that just wants to cause trouble or if they're the holier than thou, hypocritical type that think that by hurting the consumer they are making a great point about how Sony and Microsoft aren't doing enough to protect their consumers, but either way, fuck them.

I think the general consensus is they are attention whoring douchebags who do this type of shit for shits and giggles. There doesn't seem to be any other purpose to their attacks than drawing the medias attention.

They also called in a bomb threat on Sony Online Entertainment President John Smedley's flight the other day though so they should get some nice jail time when they are caught which shouldn't be to much longer since they have managed to piss off a good chunk of the hacking community and supposedly had their identities revealed already.

Edit:
There is a new Kotaku article up about their reasoning for the attack.

Edit 4:04pm: Just broke 100 failed attempts to sign in to PSN :P. The buyers remorse is starting to kick in a bit but I'm still hopeful that I can maybe play destiny by the end of the day. At least the status check page for PSN now has a Post Restoration Contact Info Link up on it now so maybe it will be back online shortly.

Yeah it seems to be back up and running for the moment. Almost through updating Destiny.

So my friend brought his ps4 over to download some updates and DLC because he does not have very good internet at his place, and I cannot believe that Sony did not improve the updating and installing process from the ps3.

First the update to the game in question was 375 mb, should only take a few minutes on my internet connection, took about an hour. Ok finally downloaded the update, time to install, well I am still sitting here waiting for the install to finish, over an hour later, no progress bar telling how long is left. This is just as bad as the ps3, and reminds me of when I first bought my ps3, and could not play for over 3 hours because of updates and installs.

One place that microsoft really does it better is updates and installs, they go quickly, and once they are downloaded, they do not need to be installed, why cant sony get that down? My friend had to leave the ps4 here so it could finish, and while its here im going to download the Last of Us (43 gb) from his download code, hopefully letting it run through the night will be enough time, but then the install will be insane if this small update is any indication.

I'm not sure why it took your friend's console so long to update, but it doesn't take long on mine... Was it in the last couple of days? Could it have been down to the problems PSN was experiencing? Although that wouldn't explain it taking over an hour to install.

Seriously, that doesn't sound right. I've never timed my Playstation, but it always downloads and installs the updates fairly quickly as far as I'm aware.

Is it running the newer firmware? I had the same impression out of the box with mine, but the newer revisions seem to address it somewhat. There's a progress bar along the bottom of the icon, for instance.

I think they've improved things a little, but yeah, stuff like prominently featuring the Destiny full game purchase icon - when I had the disc in the drive, and was trying to play it - were just strange.

Installs from disc are also terribly slow, but that could partly be on the developer.
