Re: Insignia
I actually own a 24" Insignia CRT for retro gaming and a 42" Dynex (also Best Buy) LCD for HD gaming. I can't really complain about either. Sure there are better TVs, but I got them both at rock bottom prices and they both have served me well.
I believe both are manufactured by Sharp for Best Buy anyway.

Re: Insignia
Insignia is one of those brands that gets applied to anything and everything. If it's labeled insignia, there's really no telling who made it.

Re: Insignia
i work in best buys partsearch dept and insignias are mostly made by lg/zenith or advent, i have seen a few sylvanias/funai's too. They are crap tvs and hard to get parts for so while they may work for years, once it breaks, its done pretty much. Insignia customer service is awful too.

And that differs from any other brand of TV in what way?neilwron wrote:i work in best buys partsearch dept and insignias are mostly made by lg/zenith or advent, i have seen a few sylvanias/funai's too. Ow! My small intestine!
Re: Insignia
Well, for example....if you gave me a model number for your sony tv i could probabaly pull up over 1000 parts for it. You give me an insignia model number (nslcd37 for arguments sake)....i get 19 parts (and who knows how many of those are on backorder either).Scooter wrote:And that differs from any other brand of TV in what way?neilwron wrote:i work in best buys partsearch dept and insignias are mostly made by lg/zenith or advent, i have seen a few sylvanias/funai's too. SO therefore if your insignia breaks a after your one year warranty is up....unless its one of those 19 parts, you are fucked. Sony on the other hand, after that one year we can still get a majority of the repair parts for it. Thats how it differs..
Re: Insignia
In most cases doesn't the repair labor cost more than the TV is worth? Typically you're better off just buying a new TV

NEC used to be really good here in Australia for thier after sale support. However as of this week they will no longer be in the aus market. NEC must be restructuring thier business. Now it's back to all the other shitty companies for us.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.
