Yeah, I picked myself up one of those pads. I found I was unable to do dragon punches on a stick, but could on the PS3 d-pad. But I still liked the stick because it helps me remember to use all my attack buttons, instead of just FP/RK. The pad's the best of both worlds for me.

Of course, then I went and got the Mad Catz arcade stick, because Amazon got some more PS3 ones in stock and it looked pretty uber.

too bad capcom cheaped out on the animation. Turns out they ditched the original sprites they showed off to save time and money. There is an interview on videogamer.com that details the entire process. Basically Capcom wanted to make this game even worse than it turned out.

For those that don't have it beware. There are many online freezes/ glitches and the "remixed" mode online rankings are completely broken now. The system has several 100,000 players stuck with a "0" ranking but the win/loss ratio's continue to track at least. Playing online is still fun, and I like the game anyway. Its got major issues though, and its all because Capcom is cheap and Backbone are inexperienced.

They did not "cheap out" on the animation. There are still the same number of frames as there were before. As far as the sprites, yes, they decided to start over because they were putting TOO much detail into them, which wasn't necessary. That was Udon, not Capcom nor Backbone. This was all known long before the game came out. I haven't watched that "interview", but based on your comments, it's completely wrong.

I have played more online than most and have experienced no freezing or glitches. It's one of the best playing online fighting games (I have it for 360). You are right though about the rankings being currently broken, but that hasn't affected the gameplay.

the interview was with the director of the game David Sirlin. Capcom chose to cut the more shaded sprites because it was taking too long and required more animators.

Does anyone know when those SFIV fight pads are getting released? Are they gonna coincide with the release of SFIV or what?

I really need to get my hands on one of them! Preferably the Ken one, it looks badass.

Not sure if you followed this game much online before it was released but lots of people were bitching haaaaard about how long this game took. Lots of "taking too long, not interested, will just wait for SF4 instead" stuff. I think most of those people were bitching just to bitch, but this is a game that was in development for nearly two years. A REMAKE. They had to get it out. Personally I think it looks fantastic, though I do have some minor gripes. The ranking is totally screwed, though, you're right about that. On the 360 the net play is smooth. I hear the PS3 version is pretty borked.
