Probably won't work -- I tried that once.

I just hooked up the same VGA box that Racketboy is selling and I'm getting an "Unsupported Signal" message on my Toshiba REGZA 32HL67U LCD TV screen. It refuses to display a picture or play a sound (likely because it can't find a video signal). When I hook up the VGA box to a crappy 19" monitor I have, it works fine. When I hook up a laptop to the REGZA using the same VGA cable and outputting a 640x480@60Hz signal, again that works fine. I've noticed in this forum and others that other LCD TVs apparently aren't working with a VGA box either. My TV most definitely supports a 640x480@60Hz signal in the PC input, so what's the deal here? Is the pin-out config of this box somehow different than a standard videocard in any PC? I've been looking at the schematic in a standard VGA box and comparing it to the VGA connector spec. Apparently, all the VGA box uses is the RGB and HV signals whereas a PC would have pins for Ground and DDC DAT and DDC Clock. Is that it? Am I missing something here? I don't see any reason why this shouldn't work and yet it doesn't.

Quick question. Have you tried the S-Video output? I have the LCD resolution issue as well, but I can still get sound. If you're not, I don't think it's the same issue.

Ack, I haven't tried an S-video cable as I don't presently have one. I meant I wasn't getting sound using the PC input of my LCD TV (there are RCA jacks associated to the PC input so I just used a mini-jack to RCA turnaround cable) but that might be due to the fact that I wasn't getting a usable video signal. The VGA box's sound output likely works fine. I'll test that again later. Still, the video issue remains. It doesn't really make sense unless one of the components (as in device, not input type) is doing something non-standard.

Hey yall. I got a dreamcast vga box and a vga to component cable over my winter break and just got to try it out today. it launches in weird green color with lines across teh screen, is normal for like 2 seconds, then stops sending a signal all together. i was wondering if anyone has tried this before, and if so if there is a way of getting full vga glory out of this thing!?!

Sorry for the bump, but I just want to say that thanks to this thread I located a copy of Blaze Xploder for the dreamcast.

Blaze Xploder allowed me to play the English version of Shenmue 2(PAL) on my NTSC-U dreamcast on my lcd monitor.

So, for anyone wanting to play their legit PAL games via VGA use the Blaze Xploder program.

Can I use "VGA Mode" on my Dell laptop to play Dreamcast?

I have a Dell Vostro 1000, and when I press F8 during the boot up, it gives me an option called VGA mode, in which the screen turns a light black and displays a triple-sized cursor. I tried hooking up the Dreamcast via a VGA cable and VGA box, but to no avail. I pressed the "CRT/LCD" button on my laptop, but it only switched to a regular black screen. No luck so far, and I've was under the impression that the majority of laptops only have a VGA-output (as opposed to the -input I'm attempting) capability, and that may be the case, but I have to admit that "VGA mode" sounds pretty promising.

I don't know much about configuring things like this, but I was just wondering if this means it's possible for me to hook my Dreamcast up to my laptop. If anyone knows anything, please share! Thank you!

Hello all,
I am currently looking to buy a vga box for my dreamcast and since your website is out of stock my only option is ebay. I have seen two versions of your vga box. One that has plastic coating on the connector and one which uses metal(your one). I'm just wondering whether there is any difference in quality.

Thanks in advance

Alright so, I just bought a new DC off ebay (my third), and a VGA cable from Racketboy... works like a dream, and every game tried looks stunning (thanks racket)... so after browsing this thread and similar threads on other forums, the one incompatible game that everyone's talking about is Bangai-O, I remember reading about it a while back so I tried out the N64 version and... Oh man, am I ever hooked. This is the most fun I've had playing a game in years! So now I'm desperate to try out the DC version. My question is, what's the best way for me to hook up my DC to my projector - S-Video or composite cable?
