Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!

Thanks. Now that I've been exposed to Win 8.X I got to wonder what the f MS was thinking with the removal of the start button and menu. I can see some usefulness of the apps panel but it's a hot mess where I can't even cluster the items in it how I like. I tried to go into the explorer and move some junk from one folder into another and it just ended up killing the links (goes to desktop and stops) until I moved it back so it's just a long stretched out hot mess.ExedExes wrote:There's no word to describe all that except nice. And all of that completely swappable and upgradeable.Tanooki wrote:My monster laptop showed up an hour ago, big smile day, never had a dedicated very high end laptop before, and one that's do it yourself where nothing is soldered in and is totally upgrade ready.
Got this http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8278s-cl ... -6985.html Change the defaults to have a 16(8x2)GB RAM, GeForece GTX980M 8GB video, 1TB 7200rpm hdd, and a bluray/combo dvdr burner. It has the base CPU but can take something much faster and I could double the ram in time too. Also could take up to I think 3-4 hdd/sdds.
I found that Windows10 brings it back but like 7 widens the panel for some of that metro junk. I can't even see in the value of metro when it forces you to just use MS apps and services, it won't even use email programs unless they own it so I have to boot to the app panel. I'm strongly considering ClassicShell which can go classic, xp, win 7 or win10 style. I hate to quit on it, but damn it's annoying sifting that much with a mouse with a fake start button to open up anything of use.

We're just doing Magic Kingdom, and I'm a former passholder so I can practically navigate the park in my sleep. Thank you though :3REPO Man wrote:And by "Disney World" do you mean all four parks or just Magic Kingdom?AmishSamurai wrote: Smile: Going to Disney World with friends next week, before Christmas. Also I have a job and money and stuff, hence my absence.
Also:
* If you're going to Hollywood Studios, I recommend The Tower of Terror and Rock'n Roller Coaster.
* If you're going to EPCOT and like anime and stuff, check out the department store in the Japan section of the World Showcase. One section sells anime and game merchandise (I even found a few Ultraman and Kamen Rider figures in a display) and there's a section that has all kinds of foodstuffs (tea, candy et cetera). Also, check out Captain EO.
Sadly I never went to the parks enough when I lived down there, even though I could get in for free. Mostly I didn't have a ride there and while I could just take the Lynx bus (taking the 55 and transferring to the 56 which stops near the Monorails that go to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT (I think there's a few others) and buses to other parks), the latter required having the cash for the passes (if I rode the Lynx bus back, then I could rationalize buying an all-day pass for $4.50, which I'd recommend if you plan on riding the Lynx bus more than three times a day).

Sorry to hear that. When I lived it Florida, I only wen there only three times. Two of those times we left due to shitty weather (first time only managed to ride It's a Small World but I really wanted to check out PhilharMagic, but managed to get out of riding Space Mountain since I wasn't really into riding any major thrill rides that day; second time it stormed it's effin ASS off), and the third time all I really did was wait in line so my nieces could meet Tinker Bell and the other fairies from Pixie Hollow, watch the fireworks from a bad viewpoint and waited while my brother and his ex road one of the roller coasters, which pissed off his girlfriend and I never did get to ride the teacup ride).AmishSamurai wrote: We're just doing Magic Kingdom

Might be a good thing since that is a pretty good movie from what I recall. Though I remember the last time I saw it last year I was sucked into WoW so there's that...KalessinDB wrote:I definitely have the theme from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation in my head.

I've dealt with 8.1 for much of the year, the nice thing about the faux start button is the faster options you get by right clicking -- not only do you have File Explorer but Control Panel, Power Options, Device Manager, Event Viewer, Network Center, Search, Run, all that important stuff.Tanooki wrote:Thanks. I just put all the stuff I need on the desktop -- Firefox, a folder with all my GOG and installed games, a "Fast Access" folder with docs/music/pics, and I pin other stuff to the taskbar. It may look and feel weird but I think it's pretty rock solid, boot times are faster and not even a BSOD yet. I still like 7 but 8.1 isn't all that bad.

Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
ExedExes you're right it's not all bad, just has some annoyance value. I really didn't like I couldn't pop into the start menu through the file explorer and clump all the various games into a single directory for GoG stuff, anything I moved then just failed to even load and popped to the desktop. I also find it bad it throws every item in there on the panel, not just executables but those can be unpinned/erased manually.

Smile: I go in for laser hair removal on monday, and I'm almost certain this will be my last appointment with them because its nearly done. The few scraggly bits left couldn't become anything more than stubble even if they tried, and I can just about count the hairs still standing.
