Who hates smoking?
Re: Who hates smoking?
I don't smoke tobacco, but I will defend to the death your right to do so. If you don't like to be around smokers, don't go where smokers are. Don't pass laws against it. This is what we call freedom.

I thought ironic would be if he lit a cigarette then came to the site and saw a post on smoking, not vice versa. Wouldn't ironic be if I have a fear of volcanoes and then I end up dying in a volcano?

No. Irony would be if you were so scared of being killed by a volcano that you decided to leave your home in Hawaii for a safer location on the mainland, but then died in a plane crash during the move.Jrecee wrote:I thought ironic would be if he lit a cigarette then came to the site and saw a post on smoking, not vice versa. As far as smoking goes, I have no real problem with others smoking. I can't say I feel strongly enough about someone else's smoking rights to die for them, as one previous poster states, but I'm in favor of less smoking regulation.
What I really do hate, though, is how so many smokers don't seem to think that their cigarette butts count as litter and just scatter them wherever they happen to have finished smoking. That sort of stuff really doesn't help the standing of smokers among the non-smoking public.

It was LSD. But don't go dropping a bunch of acid thinking it'll have the same effect on you. Sorry for the obvious disclaimer, but, ya know...Anubis wrote:Might I inquire as to what that other drug was?

I get headaches from any kind of smoke, but I love the smell of clove and cigar smoke or any herbal-y flower-y kind of mixture; I can't stand the ol' fags (now there's some etymology to debate).
I've now tried pot but it just didn't do anything for me, even after trying it several times. I've smoked a hookah with friends with the light flavored tobacco several times yet I still don't see the point other than social interaction. The pot just made me feel like my blood sugar was a bit low, which I can get that feeling by fasting for a couple of days. It's a hell of a lot cheaper to run off of your own chemicals!
Then again, I once abused ephedrine...

I smoked cigarettes for about ten years but I quit. I do smoke a few cigars a week though. I have a humidor and everything. As far as pot, I am an alcoholic and have been sober for over 6 years but I used to smoke it daily.
Re: Who hates smoking?
Not quite. Second hand smoke has been proven to be hazardous. Legislation should protect citizens who can't always protect themselves - e.g. people who work at restaurants or bars, people who don't want to breathe smoke while shopping, sitting in class, etc. If you want to argue that "freedom" should include smoking anywhere/everywhere, then it also means I should have the freedom to walk up and punch you in the face for smoking (or at least extinguish your cigarette). I don't, though, because I don't have the freedom to do harm to others. The same thing should apply to smoking since it does do harm to others.Hatta wrote:If you don't like to be around smokers, don't go where smokers are. Don't pass laws against it. Of course drinking harms others too, but that risk is harder to manage/legislate (short of prohibition). Stiff fines for DUI is a start. In any case, to make a long argument short, comparing drinking to smoking is not a fair analogy and those who have made it are being fallacious.
I like a cigar or clove on occasion, but only rarely will smoke a cigarette.
Re: Who hates smoking?
Not cigarettes, but I recently had an unusual 'experience' with public smoking
:
Two days ago at Wal-Mart, my wife, son, and I walked up on a guy smoking weed near the air freshener section. As soon as he saw us, he sprayed some Lysol and walked away.
We really didn't know he was really doing it until about a few seconds later when the smell of it reached us. Then my kid said it smelled like the house of one of our friends (who is a pothead).
My guess is that it was an employee, because any sane person would at least wait until they get to the car, right?.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad.
