DocHauser, I just wanted to say that I am impressed with your gaming skills. You 1CC some really difficult shmups at a brisk pace and anytime I play a Steam game with online leaderboards, I see that your scores are almost always miles ahead of mine (though I think I might have one or two Pac Man CE DX+ levels on you).

Thanks JT! I think I've still got a long way to go to match the top players, though. :)

just finished ep4 of The Wolf Among Us. After each episode, this game has slowly climbed its way higher on my list of 2014 games. I really love the world it has created. I'm sure I'll finish it up tomorrow.

jeez if the last is the best, I'm for a treat. I'll be honest, I thought the whole fairy tale thing would be kind of lame. But in fact it's far more compelling than Walking Dead 2's storyline. And I can't tell you all the grins I've had bumping into fairy tale and public domain figures...
The Little Mermaid is a stripper?
Bloody Mary revels in kids reciting her name in mirrors?
The fucking Jersey Devil owns a pawn shop?
It's all brilliantly weaved together, as if the public domain were set in the same town as David Lynch's Blue Velvet and glossed over in 80's hyper-pink. I adore this game.

I've also just this last chapter got a hunch about Snow that is making me uneasy, but I'll wait until the game is over until I reveal my inkling and see if I was right. At any rate - yeah. Amazing game and I'm so glad I didn't wait on this one.

I know! Isn't it awesome! Not knowing what choices you made along the way, it will be interesting to read how the last episode play out for you. Also - and like any good mystery...
...almost everything you think you know is wrong.
Have fun!

At this point I'm ready to declare that Origin is the second-best Ys game.

Have you played Napishtim yet?

It's the best Ys game I've played. Streamlined Ys action with every bit of fat cut out.

I beat it back in 2009. I thought it was decent but it had some issues with grinding and a weak final boss design.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

Games Beaten: 2013 2012 2011 2010

I know I like to regularly trot out my view of the slump in the quality of Sonic games from Sonic 1 onward until Colors/Generations, but that criticism is really just about the mainline console games. Along the way, there were a few phenomenal Game Boy Advance games that were much truer to the first couple of console titles in the series than anything since. I took occasion to revisit Advance last night on my GB Micro (on a 2" screen) and then finish it up today on the Retron 5 (on a 55" screen) using a Genesis pad. It was an interesting visual/tactile experiment, but of course the game works equally as well in any form. I think, in my push to 100, I may reacquire SA2 and SA3 and try to move through them, too.

Titan Attacks is a fun Space Invaders-style game that works great on the Vita (and where I prefer it over the PC version I toyed around with a year or so ago). It was recently a free game on PS+, so many of you may have it - you should give it a look!

I started Sunset Overdrive today too, which is...ok. Hoping to get through it in the next day or two whilst playing a few shorter games too. :)
