Forbes Magazine: Rock Band Ripped of Guitar Hero

Post by racketboy »

Mainstream non-gaming magazines really need to not talk about topics they don't understand. It just makes them look stupid.

Yeah... that was pretty dumb of them. I usually have higher expectations for magazines like Forbes.

The article would of been better if it was the other way around. Plus, they also have no idea that the creators of Rock Band are the same ones that created the first 2 Guitar Hero games. So best of luck to Forbes, they are going to get crap ton of hate mail.

Wait, hang on, where's the article that states that Guitar Hero ripped off Guitar Freaks?

I hate it when non-gaming magazines 'report' about gaming topics. They ALWAYS get it wrong. It's like I wouldn't go do an article about Ferrari ripping off the Lotus Espirit now would I? (I wouldn't because I don't know a lot about cars, you get my drift anyway :P)

By his definition, he is right on how he worded things.... BUT... I still call bullshit, he probably didn't know what the hell he was talking about when he first wrote the article.

Yeah, but also by the same definition, Guitar Hero World Tour is now just a knockoff of Rock Band, so it nullifies any point he tried to make in the first place.

Nothing is original everything is inspired by something else and they just modify it to please their personal taste. the idea for Guitar Hero came from ''air guitar'' so it just a technological clone of air guitaring and if they thought no company was going to expand on that idea they were creating an illusion in their mind.

Actually stating that nothing is original is being unoriginal to the point of being cliche. That's not the point here anyways for everyone already knows that.

The matter at hand is bad journalism. No need to get all philosophical over it.

I was not trying become philosophical just point out the reality of this guy's ridiculous claim of Rock band ripping off his Guitar Hero is just his way in reality showing his disdain
for competition. In the same article the owner of activision was saying how he dislikes video games and does not play them at all as some. He came off to me as a ruthless business man who only cares about the money. Activison also dropped several big games (Brutal Legend, Ghost busters, etc.) last year because they were not annual-izble. they're becoming just like EA. there way off thinking is, Fuck the gamer and original games just recycle games that that they know they can make billions off of by just upgrading the graphics and changing the story a little. Call of Duty = the interactive history channel version of the story WW2.
