Currently I'm using FCEU .92 through uLaunchELF. The emulator runs pretty well, but I'm running into sound stuttering every thirty seconds or so. I'm not sure if this has to do with running the emulator and roms off a pen drive.
Anyway, what's the best option for NES emulation on the PS2? Is there a newer, more compatible version of FCEU out there? Or another emulator that works better?
Best choice for NES emulation on the PS2?

EDIT: I've had no problems with it, so I'll check which version of it, and which version of launchelf I'm using and let you know.

Cool. I just downloaded an unofficial version .90i that is stated to (oddly enough) have improvements over official version .92. I'll give it a shot when I get home and hopefully it'll yield better results.noiseredux wrote:EDIT: I've had no problems with it, so I'll check which version of it, and which version of launchelf I'm using and let you know.

Alright, so I tried version .93 and the sound was a little better but not perfect. Unfortunately though, save states will save but not load for some reason.

Did you map where you want them to save/load from?

Yep, I mapped them to a directory on my pen drive. I can save and load properly in version .92, but can only save in .93 oddly.noiseredux wrote:Did you map where you want them to save/load from?

Did you ever find out what version you were running?noiseredux wrote:EDIT: I've had no problems with it, so I'll check which version of it, and which version of launchelf I'm using and let you know.

I tried all of them, even imbNES, which is actually a PS1 NES emulator and it happens to be better than all the PS2 offerings. Unfortunately, none of these come close to the final NesterDC SE.

Yeah NesterDC SE is nice. I sold my last DC recently though, so I'm out of luck on that one. I usually played Nestopia on my PC anyway, but recently got FreeMCBoot so I've been playing around with the PS2 emulators.Mozgus wrote:I tried all of them, even imbNES, which is actually a PS1 NES emulator and it happens to be better than all the PS2 offerings. I could live with FCEU as long as can do something about the sound skipping. Did you experience the same issue?
Re: Best choice for NES emulation on the PS2?
Same issue, plus others. PS2 really doesn't have any good homebrew emulators. It's Genesis and SNES emulators are basically on par with the Dreamcast ones. The SNES ones cant run full speed and the Genesis ones never sound right.Flak Beard wrote:I could live with FCEU as long as can do something about the sound skipping.
