Make sure they have a woofer, can't miss out on that Genesis bass!

I ended up getting some from Radioshack, just because its close. $24.99, and they have sufficed even at higher volumes.

Let us know what you think of Arcus Odyssey :)

I haven't had much time to game, been focusing on music, but I did play some Eliminate Down again the other night. Still fantastic, and still haven't made it past stage 3.

I did pick up Herzog Zwei and Contra Hard Corps from a local seller. I already know I love HC, but Herzog should be interesting. I have no experience with RTS or Strategy games, but if any of them are going to pull me in, its going to be one with shmup-ish ships and TecnoSoft tunes, for sure.

Also picked up SoR2 from the same seller, and gave it a whirl... and, though I do enjoy the game quite a bit, I think it may be my least favorite SoR game. 1 is just so fast and slick, and the action never stops. I think I enjoy 1's ost a bit more too, though both are about on par. Probably an odd opinion, but none of them touch SoR3's ost for me. I absolutely adore the music in that game, and the gameplay feels more like 2 than 1, but a bit more fleshed out and interesting. All 3 are certainly great games though. Time to hunt down a real copy of SoR3 (Or, probably, BK3)

I don't think you can beat the soundtrack for SoRage on the sega cd. May have been Qsound, or whatever it was called, but that music roxor.

I don't see how $3 speakers will be much of an improvement over the TV unless we're talking a mono 13" one from the mid 80's. Cheapo pack in speakers from a PC aren't going to be that great. I suppose if you find something name brand like Altec Lansing or at least Logitech they might be a slight improvement. I just hate to see you waste time and money for what seems unlikely to be an improvement, especially when there's likely better already owned, just needs to be retrieved.

I think you would see very minor improvement, but if you aren't going for a 2.1 set costing at least $20-25, why bother? Then again, go hit a used place, like Goodwill, and pick up something cheap there.

Yeah, your best option is a $20-30 set with a sub. Works pretty well overall, not top of the line, but will get you that kickin' bass. You might be able to find something in a thrift store, too, but make sure to test first!

I've got two sets, an older Altec Lansing 2.1 set I snagged from Walmart, and another one that's a bit higher quality that I got from our local closeout/salvage store (yes, Exhuminator, it was Dirt Cheap). Those sound pretty spiffy, too.

Well asked wife where her stereo system was at her moms was and she reminded me how she gave it away so now I gotta find a small stereo system. I'll look around goodwill and thrift stores

I could not image life with out a stereo. My current TV I got new in 2006 and to this day no sound has ever came out of the TV speakers, I never even tested them. I believe that a good stereo that is well taken care of will last you most of your life minus a couple of fuses. I have had my current setup for 16 years now.

Well I'll look for one at savers or a goodwill tomorrow on my day off. I am all over getting Sega stuff. Just got a 32x. No spacer but all the wires. Finally I own the tower of power. Gotta get 32x games and hope it works lol.

These are on the rise lately, I remember bulk sealed Tempos for $7 and Pitfall for $20. Let alone all the others.
