I had some inkling that Popo had "invested" and "owned" about six figures in video games.
Pretty good haul for anyone in the late twenties..or late thirties or forties for that.
And for what it is worth, I thought Popes was early, early thirties.
What was the last movie you've seen?

I recall it, I wasn't a fan though.MrPopo wrote:Is anyone else familiar with the 2000 film Boys and Girls? Because it seems like that movie has completely disappeared from the internet's collective unconsciousness while it was a major film for me during my teenage years.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles... I found this to be surprisingly good.

No, definitely not six figures. The NWC Cart is probably what's inflating your estimation.Luke wrote:I had some inkling that Popo had "invested" and "owned" about six figures in video games.

Probably. God I hope you have that thing insured.MrPopo wrote: No, definitely not six figures. The NWC Cart is probably what's inflating your estimation.
COOKIE'S FORTUNE
So this one slipped past me for years. Google it, check out the cast, and you may think "wow. Almost every one and done in Hollywood", and you're almost right.
Good film though. I do think most of the cast did, well, paid their way into acting (or just have the looks) but pretty incredible performances from the ilk of actors like Liv Tyler and Chris O'Donnel.
Great story. May have started as a play, and if not, it should have.

Sint
A Dutch director named Dick Maas made a movie about Saint Nicholas slaughtering the people of Amsterdam along with his crew of burned zombie pirates(all named Zwarte Piet, "Black Pete") every time there is a full moon on December 5th, so I just had to see it! And you know what? It was kind of meh for the most part, partly because of the horrendous dubbing and partly because the film tried too much to use jump scares that were mostly ineffective. Where it succeeded was when it showed Saint Nick impaling and decapitating people with his staff, or the Black Petes massacring anyone they come across, kidnapping children, and generally appearing out of the fog like, well, The Fog. In fact, this movie is basically a less-effective Dutch version of The Fog with some awful CG.
Oh, and Black Pete? Racist.

Fright Night
I followed an ok movie with a great one. Fright Night is awesome, and if you love vampire movies, horror movies, movies with practical effects, or, Hell, just movies, you should watch it.

Half watched Pompeii while listening to the football on the radio. I takes all of three minutes to show off Kit Hartington's chiseled abs but leaves the actual eruption until late on focusing instead on some mostly bloodless gladiatorial combat. Kiefer Sutherland and Carrie Anne Moss also pick up paychecks.

I finally caught this a couple of months ago. I went in thinking I would hate it. I was disappointed in that regard.Sano wrote:Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles... I found this to be surprisingly good.
The last new-ish movie I've seen was Expendables 3. The novelty has worn off.
Current systems: Nintendo Switch and XBox 360,
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Perhaps, but I think a lot of this is how it was dubbed down to apply to a wider audience, and end the end it both failed to attract said wider audience and helped drive away the core audience. Notice the lack of blood, the sanitation of violence, the additional youth characters. This was a producer making bad calls and screwing up what should have been an awesome film.StuntDouble wrote:The last new-ish movie I've seen was Expendables 3. The novelty has worn off.

Got to say, Rosamund Pike
Now Affleck ought to do a Gone Guy next!
