So I'm looking to avoid getting a PS2, PS3, or XBox 360.
I'm thinking I could pull this off for a while since I not only have my retro consoles and Wii to keep me busy, but I now have a PC that can play many of the PC versions of the blockbuster console games.
I'm not a fan of the typical PC genres like RTS and I only play a few FPSs and such.
So please let me know what the best games that are best known for their console versions but have PC versions available.
Fighting and other old-school type games would especially be appreciated.

Re: What Great Modern Console Games Have PC Versions?
The main reason I have avoided a PS3 and Xbox360 is because almost all of the games are FPS and driving games... and I am not a fan of those.
As for driving games the need for speed games are also ported on the PC.

Thats my gripe with all new games, whether it be ps3, 360 or pc. I tired of this FPS crap. I enjoyed Assassins Creed, Gears of War, and I cant friggin wait for starcraft 2 and diablo 3, cause they look like they play exactly like they did 10 years ago. Hell those 2 games are the only reason I built a new pc

Mass Effect is an awesome game, and supposedly the menus are better on the PC version. Assassins Creed is on PC. Bioshock is on PC, and even though it is technically a FPS, it is FANTASTIC. I would actually say it's more of an RPG/FPS.

Soldner X is on PC? Wow, didn't know that.
It really seems that the only games that go PC and console are in the "big seller" genres, like FPS and sports.

Just about every Resident Evil has seen a PC port...
Oh, and you said you weren't really into FPS titles, but I had a lot of fun with Call of Cthulu: Dark Corners of the Earth.
