Games that desperately needed more levels?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Its not the same thing, but it gives the illusion

Id have to say, Vectorman. Not ridiculously short in levels, but short with the variety of levels they provide. When playing the game, it feels as though your only scraping the top few layers of a 7 layer dip.
ThunderPrince wrote:Sonic 3, instead of more levels they just stretched out the few they had. I hate that about the game. Marble Garden is just a chore to get through, bleh.
Marble Gardens almost ruins that game entirely for me. Doesn't flow like a proper sonic level at all, and those stupid spinning tops...
Come to think about it...there aren't really any levels in Sonic 3 that I do like
Marble Gardens SUCKED. I did like however Hydrocity and Launch Base, the other levels. BLECK!!! (except the Ice one but im thinking thats Sonic and Knuckles??? its been a while since i played through)
GAHHH Marble Gardens. What a nuisance. Wasn't Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles REALLY supposed to be one game, but they wanted to cut it in half, add that cool lock on thing and make more money?> it seems that way, but hey, it worked. and I barely ever play those games apart anymore. If ever. If only the lock-on technology worked with more games...

I hafta say I'd actually want to go through either Sonic 2 or Sonic 3& Knuckles as Metal Sonic. I remember going through Sonic Adventure on the DC, going in that one area that had those encapsulated Robots and seeing Metal Sonic. I desperately searched for a long time to see if there was a way I could unlock him, to no avail. If there were to be a new supreme 2-D sonic game, I'd love to see Sonic versus Metal Sonic again. Thats my two cents.

Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge could have used a few more levels.

But honestly, I'd much prefer too few levels over too many. "Leave the crowd wanting more" is one of the time-proven tenets of show business.

"Sonic 3's biggest flaw were zones like Sky Launch and Carnival, where the 2 stages had identical music tracks. That's bullshit. Sonic 2 and Sonic & Knuckels didn't get that lazy."

What? There was a level called Launch base and Carnival Night but the music wasn't the same at all. . . all the levels had different music.

This is really turning into the Sonic 3 thread. Yes, I have read that the two were meant to be one game. Truthfully though, I find Sonic & Knuckles to be so much better designed that it's a bit hard for me to believe.

Astal on the Saturn seemed too short, though given how frustrating it starts to get near the end that may be a good thing. It was a fun game for the most part though.

Nights into Dreams wasn't too short, it's just that there was really no game there at all. You just flying through the same short stage over and over again until the time runs out just doing the same loop de loops and shit over and over again. Really boring after awhile and I seriously doubt anyone would have liked the game more if it was longer. Nights is a tech, show piece for the system and little else.

Sorry, those are the two I meant. And I meant that, for example, the music in both stages of those Zones were identical. Carnival Night Act 1 and Act 2 had the exact same music playing.

Not exactly the same as far as I remember. Similar but I believe they added something to act 2 of Carnival Night but yes launch base had the same.

@Gamerforlife

Nights into Dreams is a score attack game underneath the story . What makes it amazing is the A-Life, system clock integration, and replay value of looping. Nights is more like a racer, shmup, or a hardcore tournament fighting game than an action platformer or linear game. It is meant to be perfected over time, watch a Youtube video of someone really good. I would play 100's of nights level variants.

Nights Journey into Dreams however was utter crap. It was linear and you could not run the level over and over again for high score. No one seems to get the reason Nights fans love the game, not even Sonic Team!

Yeah I thought they were slightly different. But Sonic 2 used the same music for each act of a zone.
